New to this, But seem Ok?
    #1348078 - 03/03/03 03:48 AM (21 years, 30 days ago)

Hello, I just started about 3 1/2 weeks ago growing my own mushrooms. I bought everything I saw fit. Before even trying this project, I researched it as much as I could, about a months worth of research. Anyway, I have 5 pint mason jars with fully colonized brown rice medium, and with the growing instruction guide I made it all the way to this step -

"from 2 weeks to 1 month for the mycelia to completely permeate the rice medium, then it will start getting these stringy looking or fan shaped runners in the white fuzzy growth. Mushroom formation is not far off, and the jars should be getting a couple of hours of light per day"

- I have been giving them light for the past week and I see no pinners, (at least to my knowlegde). All I see are that the runner/fan looking things are getting somewhat larger but definately no caps appear on them. Anyway my question is basically do I need to wait longer, or could this be a problem?

ALSO
-------
I currently have a double layer of paper towel over each jar and I use a syringe with distilled water to drop just a few drops of water on each lid each day, along with tipping each jar for a good CO2 exchange. They also recieve about 3 to 5 hours of natural sunlight through closed blinds everyday.

Any suggestions, please throw them my way!

Thank You!

You don't mention which tek you are using so I cannot give you any specific advice. Pinning is initiated by fresh air, a drop in temperature and light. Provide these three things and the pins will come. My friend has waited up to two weeks to see pins. Be patient.

Your cakes should be cased, especially if you just spawned rice without verm.

Do a search for roadkill's 60/40 case tek.
