The King is right. It's transparency film. First used here by Anno the administrator. The only thing better is glass.
Store them in a cool dark place and you'll have years of viewing pleasure.

So you do find glass to be the Best though? I've got all kinds of blank glass slides for microscopes, they'd probably be big enough for most libs... I guess the ones I was keeping for sure could go on them!

P. cyanofibrillosa This is all I have to add for now.
-------------------- Having lived through an existence close to nature, one accepts the small and simple things as most important in life. Sun, wind, rain and snow. The sounds birds make, smells of fresh wild flowers. Love of all kinds, from friends and family, thy self and our neighbors. Beautiful sunrises to the darkest clouds dancing above in the sky. To forgive, learn, share and express. This is the only thing a man such as myself can ask for. What comes as the result is nothing short of the core of human existence, to truly live free in body and mind.

Stamets says that glass is best because it blocks out harmful UV rays while not subjecting the prints to any contamination, metal oxide (all aluminum has it), acid (which can come from paper) or anything else. Transparency film has all of that except for protection from UV rays. That's simple enough to solve. Just store them in a dark place.

Did your micrometer come with your microscope Mr. Mushrooms? Or Did you have to buy it as an addition?

What you are looking at is a reticle that came installed in the eyepiece. A stage micrometer is used to calibrate it. Few people realize that you can easily measure spores down to 1/100th of a micron without using a reticle. I have seven microscopes and only one has a reticle. I never use it.

Thanks Zim. I gotta have something to show for my hobby.
Some of them aren't pristine though. Leucopholiota decorosa, which you have picked, yellows with age. I notice that other bright white prints do that too. I wonder what causes it. These are stored in a dark, cool place.

Yeah, I noticed that. I've never printed that mushroom so I wasn't sure if that was the natural color or not. I've never had a white print turn a cream color on me. I laminate them, so I wonder if oxygen has anything to do with it. I have noticed that many orange, purple/brown, and pink prints change color over time.

Oxidation is another name for rust so maybe. Got any photos of old white prints? If it keeps them from turning color I may use it from time to time.

That Megacollybia print I posted is a year and a half old. I've only been into mycology for a couple of years or so, so I don't have many/any prints older than that. Oxygen likes to react with most everything. Just a guess though.

Awesome collection Mr. M - I think the only one who might have more prints than you is Workman

Thanks Tom. I threw away my early collection from '85 to '90. Now the only prints I have are those dating from 1992. I'll post some of those in the thread later, waaaaaaaaaay later.

Gymnopilus luteofolius

I'll have to dig out the digital camera to photograph my newer prints. I have some HUGE Ganoderma tsugae print pictures somewhere.
From this conk;
