Lost a good friend today
    #13478946 - 11/13/10 03:23 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

Today my American Bulldog Jack had to be put to sleep.  It was definitely one of the most heart breaking moments of my life, we had been through so much together and he meant a lot to me.  It is good to know he is no longer in pain, but at the same time its hard to imagine him not being here.  Anyone else dealing with this kind of grief lately?

RIP Jack:heart:

Awh he's a cutie.

Sorry for your loss.

I'll burn one for you.

Man, that's sad. Dogs have so much personality and they give unconditional love. What happened to him?

He had a very bad case of bone cancer(on his back leg), his health had really been going downhill in the past couple of days since the tumor appeared and he wasn't eating or moving much.  Today I brought him into the emergency vet because he couldn't even stand up on his own and the vet examined him more and suggested he be put to sleep as the most humane thing to do.  Sadly the type of cancer he had was very fast spreading and malignant, the tumor grew very rapidly and was swelling his leg really bad, it was heartbreaking to see him like that.

The poor thing. Did the vet give you some time to be alone with him before and after?

Damnit, that's two Jacks this week. Sorry for your loss. As annoying as my dog can be sometimes when she is barking at 3am, I'd still miss her if she died. I remember being on acid lying in the driveway, and she walked up then I realized how I hadn't really shown her any affection in a while. She got a good half hour petting.

Im sorry man, but you did the right thing. He needed to pass on, and you to let go. Im proud of you for making the choice. Hes gone physically, but not spiritually. You still have all those great memories.

RIP jack

Had to put my 15 year old Golden/Lab Mix down September last year.  I got her when she was a puppy, and she took me all the way to the birth of my first child.  She died shortly after.

She instilled a love in me that I wouldn't have known without her.

It's been a year, and I still think about her all the time.  She was definitely my best friend.

It gets easier, but you'll never forget.

And she's not the one in my avatar.

RIP Jack.

You did the right thing man. Bone cancer is incredibly painful. It must of been bad if he stopped eating. Animals don't give up or show weakness like that until it really is the end.

I had to get rid of both my ferrets due to my move recently. I tried to sneak them into the apartment but they make so much damn noise

Found a nice lady on craigslist that already owned one. When i handed them over i asked if i could say goodbye and gave them both a hug. I couldn't stop the waterworks

sorry about you loss. he looked like a fine dog. I had to put down my dog Maxwell in May. truly one of the hardest things a person can go though. Not a day goes by I don't think of him. Looks like Jack was lucky to have you as a care taker. RIP jack.

Max.
