what is it like where you live?
    #13476689 - 11/13/10 01:29 AM (13 years, 7 months ago)

I'm from a small city in the midwest, and I really feel like I should move more every day. I'm trying to find a place with more like-minded people. I'm curious to hear more about what it's like in other places.

What do you like or hate about where you live? What are trends in the mindset of most people who live in your city (are they predominately apathetic or ambitious; conforming or innovative, etc.)? For those of you who live in larger cities, what's it like? Does your city have culture?

I live in western kentucky.  It's Beautiful here and my heart is in the land.  The people are weird though; defensive and nosey and entertainment is severely limited.

I think about moving a lot too, maybe to Oregon or Arizona.  I just really do actually love the state that I live in.  It's lush and hilly, swampy and green.  It has the best of the south and a good music and art scene in lexington and louisville and some of the sweetest most sincere people I have ever known.

Everyone is cranky on drugs and pretty fucken middle class. hella people ride fixed gear bikes all over. smoke lots of pot and get drunk and go to party's or just kick it at the park. theirs probably a lot of tweaks too. but overall its a interesting life...i wouldnt say the best environment tho...the city is killing me.                              BUT THE BUD IS UNBELIEVABLE!

i live in south australia, hence my user name.
Its pretty nice here, incredibly hot summers.
I live in Adelaide, the main city of south australia. Most people are chilled out, smoke alot of pot. I go on fishing trips alot, so i get out of the city a fair bit. The sights are amazing. Heres a pic from yesterday

also the catch (bit bloody)

I live in the Twin Cities, and it's pretty shitty. This city is like the red headed stepchild of hip-hop culture, so instead of gangs doing shit like making money and controlling turf, most black people claim to be a GD (Gangster Disciple) and cause bull shit crime for the hell of it.

I've gotten beat within an inch of my life for being the white kid at a bus stop when I was 14, by a bunch of 20-40 year olds brothers, so maybe I am just duragatory  It's like everyone here is trying so hard to prove that their 'down', that they aren't really 'down' for a fucking thing - they are just trying to fit an image.

The funny thing is about GD, that everyone knows it here, it's universal - I can throw up a six point star on my hands. Only it's strictly a black gang, so if a white guy shakes up like a folk he is in line to get his jaw removed, but if my black friend who I would stomp into the dirt shakes up - it's all G. Pathetic.

All the other shit aside, I fucking hate blizzards - Fuck the Twin Cities.

This sums up the Twin Cities

You don't know what you're talking about man.
The Twin Cities are great.
Just got back from an awesome show, tons of cool people there, and then those sweet snowflakes on the way home.

If I visited a nice part of town, in a car, and got to leave the next day I bet it'd be jolly swell.

Try fucking living here, and then you tell me how much you adore the Twin Cities.

Central Valley of California by any chance?...

Sounds like it, and that's where I reside...Unfortunately.

The location isn't so bad, SF and the beach is just a short drive to the west. And the mountains and snow is only a short drive to the east...There's a lot of various outdoor activities and what not to do year-round . But as far as the particular town I live in, it's quite lame...

Lots of trashy & shady people in general. The cops aren't all that bad, perhaps the fact I'm white may have something to do with that though (I'm just being real with that statement ). I've been stopped a handful of times while stoned and/or with bud on me, driving and riding my bike, and they always let me be on my way.

A lot of ignorant kids that think they're good at graffiti (a few of them are). Lots of christians, lots of farming, shit kickers, fields, and the fresh aroma of cow/horse/pig/chicken shit wafting in the 100+ degree air during the summer.

There's not much to do on the weekends, I often make my way over to the bay area and Santa Cruz because nothing happens in the valley. Almost everyone just simply drinks and smokes on the weekends, same shit all the time. I enjoy outdoor things more than "night life" shenanigans anyways, fishing, mushroom hunting, wakeboarding, snowboarding, hiking, etc...

Ultimately the place is a fucking dead end shit hole, the overall mentality and vibes of everyone is really depressing. I have a handful of really good friends, and I really like the location I live in...But as far as the town and majority of the people go, I could do with out .

....But everyone smokes, the weed is top quality, everywhere all the time, and cheap  .

:stoner:

It's a small town here in northeast Alabama. Maybe 15-20 thousand people. Most people here are preppy. You can run into a good number of people that smoke weed. The exotic drugs are hard to come by here, but I'm close to Chattanooga and Atlanta if I really want something I can find it. The cops here aren't bad really. I have been pulled over at least five or six times and never once been searched. 99% of people are very kind and generous. They do stare hard at the long haired teenager until you smile and say "Hey, how are you?", and they will usually reply back and ask you something similar. It's pretty laid back honestly. News travels too fast though. As soon as something happens, everyone knows. Your choices of girls are limited too. I haven't met a girl with the same mindset as I, yet.

I live in the Los Angeles area. I like the openmindedness of most people around here. Definitely noticed a difference between people up North compared to here in SoCal. However I'm not fond of the stupidity of most people I know, but I think that happens anywhere you go. I hope to find more likeminded people as myself eventually. I'm sure I will, if I just travel.
