Consider these two images, are they the same thing?

&
The first is an image of Muslims in a religious congregation and the second is one of a Christian 'mega-church'. They do look similar in appearance but are the differences between the two being shadowed by the generalization of both of them 'just religious practice'? In an individual member of either grouping, are the intentions to participate in congregation coming from the same place with themselves, within their psyche, soul, being, whathaveyou? I ask while pointing out what I feel to be an accurate observation, which is that Muslims seem to conduct their rituals with a more strict (that may not be the right adjective) attitude, with prayer happening more often and certain large-scale pilgrimages (Mecca) compared to that of a Christian.

One thing that is shared is the collective reality they manifest sheerly by strength in numbers.
They are both events more than feelings. The felt experience is secondary. Even manifesting a tiny fragment of meaning requires a place, a time, a routine, a language, expectations, a certain attitude, a certain form of dress, adherence to rules and conduct, etc.
My deepest apologies for beating our dead horse, but you can take mushrooms in a public bathroom and see the Universe reflected in the fucking urinal. How's that for staged?

I wonder why you describe it as a fucking urinal. Your brain and that porcelain are both made of the same material in the end.

The same reason Bill Hicks laughs and says it's part of the joke that God grows in cow poopie.
And I wouldn't say the brain is made of "material", but that's another thread.

In the RP, are you asking if the intentions of both groups are the same?

My thought?
Why base our lives on a book written by someone who was still alive on this plane of existence? We don't need religion to live a good life and treat people well. Both pictures depict people celebrating life, why tag it with a religion or belief?

I hear the term 'Fake Christians' tossed around once in a while. Would I hear, if I lived in a Muslim country, the idea of 'Fake Muslims'?

Celebration of life, at least in some contexts, can be equated to the act of submission to a Deity?

Nah, there's no need to tag a celebration of life with a deity. One can celebrate their existence without submitting to a higher power.

Probably.
There are holier than thou types in every religion, I'm sure.
Anyone who doesn't stick to the original teaching and remain in teh spirit of their religion is probably labeled a poser.
Just like people who label people who don't meet thier gothic/hippie/preppy/redneck standards posers.
S'no different.

exactly. Buddhism has a tradition of intense introspection, meditation, finding truth through your own experience rather than 'faith.'

Why an act of submission? It just depends on how you perceive it.
Why not a joining or union?

If people would just realize they "are" God along with everyone else we'd be in a much better place. People want something that's theirs and cannot be shared. Its selfish really.
