yeah, the only thign i've heard about it's edibility is of poisonings in wich it was suspected as the species ingested.

If they were complaining about ones sold to them, they were probably just trying to get a price break. And of course you've never heard of the little black ones from BC, cuz they don't exist :wink:

The only mushrooms I can think of that stain "black" are p. aucklandii, but being as I haven't personally picked any aucklandii, I'm not sure whether or not this is actually true.

They are probably just dried up cubes that have been handled a lot. Ive seen dried mushies that look damn near black. Just b/c he hasnt seen beautiful mushies like yours doesnt mean his are any better. :smirk:

Sometimes people have a color association problem and are actually colo9r-blind but not in the normal ssense.

I have picked bluing copelandia shrooms which turn bluish-black when put into plastic baggies while picking and they oxidate and get slimy and yucky..

Baby blue cyanescens mushroosm stems look blackish when picked and dried.
