My roommate and I were looking for things to do tonight so I checked the local concert halls. I figured out that Lotus was playing here tonight. I had never heard of them but my roommate told me to look them up. The first song that popped up was this:
Now I really want to go but I checked my bank account and I only have 6 dollars in it plus like 3 dollars in change and a one dollar bill in my possession. Now I know what I could have experienced but I can't go.
Oh well, tis better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.
Does anybody else listen to Lotus? If you like STS9 you would probably love them.

Lotus is pretty ill.
Crescent and Nematode are songs I enjoy quite a bit.

Lotus used to be awesome. Their live shows are now a bit fabricated and sterile for my liking. The spontaneity is what used to make them fun, now they are too robotic. But I guess if you do a lot of drugs they could still be enjoyable.

I had only listened to them a few times, but then I saw them at Nocturnal Festival.
That show was fucking AWESOME. They were one of my favorite sets out of those two nights. Me and my friends spent the show dancing our asses off and smoking mad hash
I can't compare them to their old shows, so I don't know if they've gotten worse. But if they have, they are still a lot better than many other jam bands I have seen live. Disco Biscuits played right before them and SUCKED in comparison.
I would go see them again if I could

Nice, a lot of people dig them. Yes, Flying Lotus is really cool too. That's who I thought it was when I first read who was playing.

Or use whatever drugs you have to trade for tickets. There will probably be a few people scalping.

Ehh, the only drug I have is a gram of weed, I gave all the rest away. Plus I'm not really looking to sneak in, this venue only has one good side door and there's security there (not including fire escapes). Plus I'm not down with getting banned from this place, it's where most of the good shows come. Not worth it for a band I just found out about today.
Thanks for the advice though guys.

Yeah, it's pretty good music, no doubt.
I've tried to see them live a couple times, but I never made. DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE

They have their own festival called Summerdance... I went this year and it was one of the best weekends of my life.

Yeah, I kinda gotta agree with that.
They are still awesome, but they come off as too cold and calculated these days. Too overtly electronic.
I'm seeing them in a couple weeks, so we'll see.

this is the show i was at last week: http://www.archive.org/details/Lotus2010-11-02.aud.flac16
nothing really got me movin until shimmer and out, last song of the night
i really like their more melodic tunes, they used to improvise and find an emotional wave to ride. now its just straight up thumpin trance. which is cool if you're into that. they are solid musicians.

Yeah, totally agree, it's their melodic stuff that does it for me. Sunrain, flower sermon, it's all clear to me now, livingston storm.
I still like their more in your face electronica, but meh. Really wish they would have stuck with their original sound.

I don't see how people say Lotus has gotten "too electronic".
Their last few albums (Oil on Glass, Feather on Wood, Hammerstrike) have had a much heavier rock influence in my opinion.
Summerdance was my first time seeing them though, so I admit I don't know much about their live history.
