Oyster/Reishi Growth?

Hey, I'm thinking about ordering some Oyster Bags or Reishi Bags from www.fungiperfecti.com. A big bag of colonized substrate is about $20 + S&H.
I plan on following the instructions, but once the bag is exhausted, I was thinking if i could "Bulk Tek" it on straw the same way my dog does cubes on straw.
I don't have much experience with edibles, but is it possible to:
1. Pasteurize straw, let hang for a few hours, then put into trays (about 3.5'' depth), then mix with the exhausted Oyster Bag / Reishifrom fungiperfecti.com?
2. Let this colonize in an incubator with tin foil on top with holes punched through.
3. Once 100% colonized, "case" with verm or 50/50+?
4. Fruit as you would cubes.
Can oysters grow upwards? I looked at oyster pictures and they are all growing from the sides of bags. I don't really use bags yet and I was thinking if this would be a good alternative, and then throw the 100% colonized tray w/ casings in a terarrium (i.e. walmart greenhouse).
What do you think? Any teks on growing oysters in trays? Or Reishis?
I have no clue as to what I'm doing for Oysters/Reishis. Help me out lol.
Thanks,
daba

Your plan could work with oysters but not with reishi - they need a woody substrate. You might have problems because it is very likely that exhausted oyster block is already contaminated. It would be better to clone it and start from beginning or to use the spent block outside. Oysters don't need casing and they grow also from horizontal surface (grow upwards) but side fruitings are better.

Hey, I got my oyster bag today. Turns out to be Blue Oysters.
I have a walmart greenhouse, just sprawyed the interior with some spring water and H2O2, trying to keep humidity up. It's at 88% right now. I also sprayed the bag. It's just grain spawn in some straw.
I hope it all works out. This bag is already pre-slit for me. www.fungi.com did everything for me, even gave me a big bag with holes in it for a Humidity Tent, but I chose to use my walmart gerenhouse instead.
Someone told me I could use the exhausted bag to inoculate more straw... Might as well try that, got nothin' to lose lol.
Also: Right now the bag is just sitting on the grow chamber. Should I attempt to hang it on one of the racks or can it just sit? Basically it's the hanging sack of straw thats not really hanging but instead sitting on a rack. Is this OK or should I hang it?

if theres slits on the bottom surface that its sitting on you might as well hang it. you also might want to get a mycelium sample from it asap and clone it so you don't risk getting a bunch of contams after the block is spent.
