This is why I hate cops 2

So tonight me and and a friend are hanging out (working on some music shit), before I have to drive her back to her place since I have to go to the studio afterwords. So we are on our way back and decide to quickly make a stop in the city park since its a really beautiful foggy night outside.
So anyways, on the way there a cop starts following me in my car. Now I don't look like some crazy person but I have a red lowered civic. Anyways we get to the park and turn in and he follows.
The cop drives to the side and puts his flood lights on to illuminate my car. He comes out and I am like what seems to be the problem. He is like oh well I was following you and you were driving kind of cautiously. Well first I didn't know that was a crime but whatever, the night had one of those really thick dense fogs and it was really hard to see the entrance.
He asks for my drivers license, so I give it to him and about 15 minutes pass. Finally he comes back and is like to my friend, do you have any ID. She says she doesn't think so and I tell her she doesn't have to supply any anyways but she finally finds her health card. I ask him whats the hold up and he is like oh just checking things out.
He then asks us to exit the vehicle and makes us wait in the fucking cold outside the car for about 10 or so minutes. In the meantime another cop car comes up and he gets out too, also shining the cars flood beams at my car and at us.
Finally he comes back and is like oh have you been drinking or doing drugs. Obviously I am like no and I actually was 100% clean, no alcohol or drugs any period of time recently. He then asks me to blow at him so I do, and he is like oh you don't smell like alcohol. I am like yeah no shit I told you I wasn't drinking. He then shines a light in my eye and makes me walk in a straight line. I am like really are you kidding me? I don't exactly look or act drunk. He then walks to the car and is like oh I am going to search it. Now even though I did not have anything in my car there is no way in hell any cop is going to mess up my car for no reason, and delay me when I am not doing anything wrong. So I say no sorry unless you have a warrant your not searching it. He keeps on insisting to search it and I keep on refusing, (this went on forever, he is like I will search it whether you like it or not, 'you are going to go to jail unless you let me search it' ,etc. Fortunately I know the law a little to well and know there is no way he can legally search my vehicle unless I give him permission (hence the intimidation tactics, attempting to trick me into giving permission) or if a k9 unit alerts to drugs (or open drug paraphanalia / drugs are visible) until he finally gives up and asks to see the registration and insurance.
So I get those for him and he comes back in a bit with a breathalyzer test. So I blow into it, and of course I blow back a 0.00. He is like oh ok well then you are going to have to wait here for a bit while I look some stuff up. He makes me wait 20 minutes while he drives in his car back and forth, parks, and then resumes.
Finally he comes back and after wasting over an hour of my time drives off. I got his badge number and name, even though he got upset after I asked for it, and I am going to report him for abuse, but seriously people wonder why I hate the police so much? Nothing he did was legal, besides the first pulling over. He detained me for no apparent reason, I was not issued a citation or ANYTHING, as he said the only reason I was pulled over was because I was driving slow.
Fucking pigs

It's all about the
It's not a crime to drive cautiously, especially in less than perfect conditions.
Good on you for using your 4th amendment right too.

I don't know why the cop acted that way, were you disrespectful to him or being smart with him or anything like that?? Generally cops are good to you if your good to them, but then again maybe you just got pulled over by a bored police officer with a chip on his shoulder.
I agree with what the others said, well handled.

this. Some are assholes, but not all are. I know more cops that are your bud as long as you're nice and plenty that will make your life hell if you're a dick.
OP, you sound like you handled it fine, maybe you fit the description of someone or something

Where the fuck are you from?
For every good decent cop out there, there are 3 that abuse their power. Ive grown up around law enforcement my entire life. My dad is in law enforcement and so was my late stepmother.
Talk about an awkward time growing up.Haha

Just chill out, why would you pull the bullshit when you're clean?
Fuck standing on principle, it gets you nowhere.
Best case scenario you wasted the officers.

I love the cops in my area, their great. I'm not proud to admit but one time i was drink driving home, i was totally in control of the car and what not and it was not dangerous in anyway - but i was drunk.
I got pulled over by a police officer like around the corner from my house, and he comes to the window and goes have you been drinking tonight? And i said look officer, im not gonna lie, i have had a few drinks tonight but i feel i am right to drive. And he goes good because i could smell it on your breathe.
Then he does the breathaliser, and the two cops were like looking at the breathaliser machine with smiles on their face like it was a joke to see who can get the highest score or something, haha. But what i did was breathed in through my nose and blew fresh air into the breathaliser rather then from my lungs - and i don't know if this worked or the officers just let me off with it, but they came back after 10 minutes and say 'you've blown 0.00, your free to go, just don't let this sort of thing happen again' , and i sat and had a chat with them for like few minutes afterwards and thanked them both alot and shook their hands etc.
That restored my faith in police officers 100%, their not all bad guys, their just normal people doing their job. Sometimes their job is to give people a hard time.
I'm from Australia aneway. And i'll tell you this you can think im lying or whatever, thats up to you, but my uncle was shot and killed by a police officer when i was a kid, and for me to be able to say cops are good people is really proof that they are.
Sure i've met a few prick police officers as well but i'd say the good definately outweighs the bad, atleast in my experience.

I can say that the cops in Honolulu were pretty laid back. There were some close calls but they always seemed to be cool guys and just checking things out. No hassles.
Shit, here in the southeast it is a whole different story.

You can't really compare Aussie cops to USA cops.
The dynamics are years apart.
I remember 18 months back when a police chief got full media coverage, full suspensions without pay and criminal charges for deploying a taser on a 16yo girl (that was EXTREMELY violent).
In the USA that would be a joke, didn't someone chase a girl down and taser her in the back of the head while no crime was being committed?

Good job handling those pigs!
and I agree, Fuck the police!
my brother just pulled a funny stunt. He tied several packs of bacon to the back of his truck on some rope and drove around till he got pulled over. Cop asked him why he did that, he told him he was fishing for cops, then he said "I caught a real fat one". He got the same treatment as you, kinda asked for it.. but he got off with no charges

I've been stopped and taken to jail for 6mph over the speed limit, I was stopped for going to slow one night because it's suspicious and then a few years later pulled over for driving the speed limit because that's suspicious too.
def file a complaint on the cop, understand the repercussions are that his buddies may fuck with you, cops can sometimes be dicks like that

Funny sure but not smart
He's not proving a point, he's not making a difference... if he wants to get in trouble, all the more power to him.

Way to keep it together when the cop was being a dick.
i have had some good and bad run in with the cops. never anything this bad. last week my i went to get my roommate after bar close...so i'm on the block to get him and he tell me to whip a u turn, and i'm like "no dude there is a cop right here" he say i know i'm standing next to him, then asked the cop if it's illegal to u turn on that street. and the cop flips out becasue he was "busy" and told him to leave him alone...at this point i see what's happenings as i on the phone w/him. so my roomie says fine talks son shit and walks away. the cop fallows him telling him to stop. so he does. the cop takes his phone away and cuffs him. and my roomies like WTF you said leave you alone, my ride is right there. i park and walk over and talk to the cop for like 20 minutes before he lets me take him home. but the cop was in reality kinda nice...he didn't pat him down (had weed on him) and never checked him ID or anything. he was just pissed that my roomie talked shit as he walked away...point of the story: don't talk to cops when your drunk!
