"Sasquatch atemy damn Shrooms"

Hey all just wanted to say thank you all for all the help you have given the Sasquatch family... they have finally got some pins out of those cakes in their first batch. Especially to Dog and Angry Mycologist



While here however one more simple question...they noticed that there is some new mycelia growing on the side of the cake that is really fuzzy and there are three little greenish dots. Should they cut it out or just watch it carefully? See picture below sorry its taken with a cheap camera.

Cut them out with a sterile knife. Nine times out of ten, cakes that are already fruiting will produce at least one flush if they become contaminated. If you cut out the green spots you'll probably have a cake that will flush many more times.

your "greenish dots" could be bluing. don't cut it, watch it carefully.

Fully colonized cakes do not contaminate very easily. Chances are those spots are just bruising. Keep an eye on them and if you want to be extra cautious, separate the affected cake(s) from the others.

good as this was my next question.. i have a cake that finnaly pinned about 5 little ones but know i am also seeing these green/bluish dots myself. Hope they are not contams. but how can we tell.. will they go away if they are just brusing and will it get bigger if they are contams?

yea man gotta watch the mold......i swear to god i went to bed with lovely cakes one night woke up on the morning and 3 of the cakes tops was covered in this oozy green mold...NASTY stuff man.....but my cakes survived with a little off the top and did continue flush for 3 more weeks
