PC temps, PC for pasturizing?

I did a quick search and did'nt find anything that answers my questions.

My basic idea is that I want to pasturize in my pressure cooker. (Just cause its big, and its convenient)

According to the FAQ, water boils at 250f at 15 pounds. This is too hot for pasturizing.

What temp is reached at 10 pounds?
And what temp at 5 pounds, and so on?

I guess the idea is to "cook" hay, or poop, or whatever at 170-180 degrees for an hour or so in order to pasturize it.

How can I do this easily in a pressure cooker?
What if I dont use the jiggler at all? And instead put a meat thermometer down into the jigglers hole and keep an eye on that, to make sure the temps are correct?

Has anyone else used a PC to pasturize? Im sure the idea comes up here often, I just havnt seen it or paid attention.

If you flame me, please make sure it is hot enough and long enough to pasturize, but not sterilize.

(PS: And should I sing to the hay as it pasturizes? or only as it cools?)

Hey,
Okay, well...its very simple what you want to do here.

Use your pressure cooker as a normal crock-pot, and just set the lid on the top of the pot, without locking it in place for pressure cooking.

Put your straw/poop into a pillow case, and submerge it into the water. You will mst likely have to use a brick or rock to keep it down.

Purchase or aquire a meat thermometer, and stick it into the water. Monitor the temperature so it stays between 170-180 for 1hr and 15-30 mins. At this temp, the water is not boiling, it is just really hot.

Do not try to PC it... just use it as a normal pot!

You could also just pasteurize it in the oven at for 2-4 hours at 165F in an autoclavable bag. Use a meat thermometer to regulate the temp inside the dung and once it hits your desired temp, keep the oven at that temp for the allotted time. Once it finishes, pull out the thermometer and tie the bag shut with string and let cool for a day or two so the natural bacteria can take over.
