Drug Slingers Caught On Google Street View
How can you tell when you've been slinging drugs for too long on the same corner? When police are able to use Google Maps to identify you. NYPD set up a sting on a drug crew working near the Cooper Park Houses in East Williamsburg yesterday, busting seven dealers including three whose faces were captured in the Google street view. And the police did so in the guise of hipsters. "They were catering to the hipster crowd, among other customers," one law-enforcement source told the Post.
The suspects in the Google photo were identified as Shaundell Dade (in the red coat), Jamel Pringle, and Jonathan Paulino, who is the suspected ringleader of the crew. He allegedly was caught in a basement apartment where cops found 20 glassines of heroin, marijuana and a packaging laboratory that included envelopes, scales and stamps. The suspects were caught on surveillance camera allegedly stashing their heroin in a magnetic lock box secured to the back of the Neighborhood Grocery's metal signs, unknown to the owner of the store. Undercover cops dressed as hipsters made 20 drug buys, purchasing $10 envelopes of heroin stamped with brand names such as "Fed Ex," "KFC," "Powerful Impact," "Magik" and "Crossbones."
Police began the investigation four months ago after locals complained about the crew selling crack and dope openly in the neighborhood. "If you look at the neighborhood, there are a lot of drugs. You don't want your kids to walk around a neighborhood with drugs," said Jose Inez, manager of Chela Grocery on Kingsland Avenue, who said he would close the store from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. because "it was serving as a sanctuary for drug dealers."

ive noticed this on my own before. Just google street view some bad parts of DC or baltimore and you will see people selling dope and rocks. Saw this lolsy black kid on a bike in baltimore circling around the google street view van.
thats awesome they went undercover as hipsters. Some legit cops in there.

Is that supposed to signify an area where drugs can be purchased? I've seen power lines around my area with shoes dangling from them too. I don't do any face-to-face deals but I am just curious.

shoes on the powerlines resemble a loss or death in the neighborhood. Sadly often from guns

yea in fact its the only reason
its where someone died or its a memorial
unless its some 90's movie where this big fat white kid is bullying a scrawny and steals his shoes so he can throw him up there

Shoes get up there for all sorts of different reasons; shoes on lines are much less likely to signal a death than say making RIP t-shirts or having your back window done up with a mural or picture and birth/death dates of your departed loved one.
Usually either someone gets beat up and they get thrown up there which rarely happens now because most people use guns frequently
A lot of the times though kids are just out there dicking around with $10-20 pairs of sneakers and they throw them up there because they want to.
I'd be willing to bet however this has been happening since the early 1900s when telephone wires were first strung up in big cities like New York and people everywhere figured it would look interesting.
People do the same thing for all sorts of different reasons.

Didn't quite know it was *that* popular, but yeah I guess it makes sense. Like I figured, it's been happening everywhere where there are shoes and telephone wires.

In my area it delimits the 'territory' of street gang.

me and my siblings threw shoes on the power lines just for fun, (and so moms would finally buy us some NEW freaking shoes!)
there was no real this is my corner shit till like 3 months later when we started growing meth, subsidizing hemp, shooting dogs, beheading cats, etc etc,
nah i kidd i kidd, but really, drug dealers like these are so easily found, i dont know why police allow this kind of shit, its totally obvious like really?? are you that stupid or hard up... this is why things like cannabis have bad reps, id be PISSED OFF if this was in my neighborhood or within reach of my children cuz you know theyd sell to anyone, or worst
