4" toilet flanges for the ports. Wide rubberbands to hold the gloves on. Free free to ask questions.
Cost: about $30 US

I am considering making something very similar, except the back (opposite to gloves) will have a commercial box style hepa unit mounted to it. This will make it a positive pressure environment, as well as some ventilation for the air to escape, as to not cause a pop =)

Yeah next step is a flowhood, but this will do until then.

I'm working on my hood now, and a cheaper unit for a friend of mine. I'll let you know my results. The HEPA units are only about 60$, at 99.97 filtration. Wheras just the HEPA for a hood is more than that.

that post confused me. i guess the question I have is which HEPA units are $60 as opposed to the HEPA units your using for the hood? what are the $60 units for?

the toilet flange and rubberbands is a great idea. it seems to me a better "box" could have been found. it looks crowded in there. did you just use what you had on hand? have you tried working in this? is it comfortable?

oops, sorry - stumbling over myself here.
I am making a laminar flow hood, with a HEPA filter in it for myself.
The experimental one I am going to make, uses a commercial hepa unit (the kind shaped like a box, that you sit in a room to make the air cleaner, comes with a fan and all that) sort of glovebox/hood. It's about 1.5' by 1' - and I will mount that machine to the back of a glovebox type setup - except rather than being fully closed as a glove box is, it will have a 6" x 1.5' slit across the front, for hand room. I think it should be able to push enough air to work as a sterile enviroment, especially since the top is closed, as well as the sides, and even the front - only the slit is available open space for air, and hopefully there will be enough +pressure from the hepa unit to keep dirty air out.
(make more sense?) lol

Yes I am going to upgrade boxes soon. It will be as simple as unbolting the ports and popping them in the new box.

Nice glovebox.. maybe I'll build a fancy one like that someday. My glovebox is cheaper though, it consists of a rubbermaid bin like yours, holes cut in it, plastic bags duct taped for arms, latex gloves, and a plastic sheet duct taped over the top. Works like a chamr. Total cost: $3.

do you keep a spray bottle of bleach or alcohol solution inside the box to spray everything down after you close it to make sure it's sterile in there or something?

Exactly by the time you have wiped everything down with bleach/water your hands will be sterile . if you clip your finger nails, and don't pick your nose you can get by without cumbersome gloves .
