questions about humidity and casings
    #1346356 - 03/02/03 09:54 AM (13 years, 9 months ago)

my friends casing just started to pin today.. his humidity is at 95%. he would like to know if he should drop the humidity now that it started to pin?

also, what would happen if he let it fruit at 95% humidity and put some cakes in the same chamber as the casing? he understands its not perfect conditions but would he still be happy with the outcome. he is doing a straight verm casing.

might not hurt the yield, if you don't mind fuzzy, fat arse shrooms .

Your friend should drop humidity to 86%

Your casing will still fruit ok, but the stems may look a little hairy.

high humidity on a casing would also cause skimpy fruits.  After they r dried, they'll almost  look like toothpicks!
My therapist recommends lowering the rH  and putting the cakes  in that same terraium a la chronic tek. Buuut seperating the two would be  better! =)

"but would he still be happy with the outcome?"
>>That depends what kinda outcome he wants!!!  Maximizing  flush yield,??? then it wouldnt make sense to put a cake(s) into a casing domain...
since they require different fruiting conditions.  One will suffer (give a weaker flush) while the other prospers.
One terraium for casings, the other for cakes. Not too hard to do.
Try mixing some coir or peat and crushed oyster shell to ur next casing...u'll never go back to str8 verm again

sBUD:tongue:
