Casing Help Needed, La La La
    #1346269 - 03/02/03 08:52 AM (15 years, 1 month ago)

My FOAF made a casing about a week and a half ago. he placed saran wrap over the casing tray and placed those trays in his terrarium. the trays have been exposed to indirect sunlight every day. so far there are small patches of mycellium appearing in one tray and hardly any in the other. he think that he made the casing layer too deep (about 1 inch). Should he try to remove some of the top layer? Thanks for your help.
-Phil

how deep is the substrate ? what is the casing made of ?
1" is probably too deep, unless FOAF is casing 4" of poo/straw .

Carefully, yes. If your substrate is only one inch deep then your casing is to deep. I would say no more than 1/2 an inch. Probably 1/4 inch of casing material is needed.
