Malt Extract For Use As A Liquid Substrate?
    #1346101 - 03/02/03 05:16 AM (15 years, 3 months ago)

Has anyone tried producing a liquid inoculant using a malt extract solution? I have ran out of agar agar and want to get some woodchips spawned for an outdoor project. The problem is the clock is ticking - Spring is almost upon us!

Why not try inoculating grain with a syringe of spores then spawing that to wood chips? This is what i would do if out of agar.

I agree.

Light dry malt, PC'ed 20 minutes @ 15 lbs & innoc'ed with a multispore syringe.
There are blue plate glass shards in the jars bottom, to help cut up the thick cloud of myc, when the jar is agitated.

Cool, I thought that it would make sense to work, but didn't know if anyone was actually using it for liquid substrate.

I have some agar on the way now anyway, but I will use the malt extract in a solution as well, and post the progress.
