Pinhead: Thanks for the kind words brother, and remember it is not the size that matters, as long as you can get the job done!
Eatursoul: I am so glad it all worked out running out of money when you are almost done was shit. I am SOO glad it is done now.
Ozzy: I am SOOO happy its complete, but now I can worry about other things like building a custom FAE/Humidity unit for my Martha. I plan to be growing legal edibles all winter long so it will be my next project for sure.
Stonesun: Thanks

Evil, Congrats!! Looking good. What is the purpose of the cardboard over the fan? I'd recommend building a glass/plexi hood over your work area. Your going to love that laminar flow. Sweet clean air!

The purpose of the cardboard is to limit the amount of intake air into the blower. That blower/motor combo is most likely operating at 1300+ CFM. By blocking some of the intake air I can tune the flow of air so that it is around my 450CFM @ 1.0 W.C sweet spot. Without the cardboard the lighter was getting blown out at upto 5 inches away. Now that it is "Tuned" down it gives a good 90 degree bend at around 1-2 inches away from the pleats.

just a thought, but wouldn't it be better to use a dimmer switch you can control the speed ? thus cutting down the cfms?
Seems like it would be hard on the fan to be blocking it's intake.

Dimmer Switch's and Variable speed controllers cost money. Cardboard and duct tape does not. As for excess load on the motor here is a quote from my Flowhood Help post made by RR:
"That makes sense. In fact, your motor may be fine. It seems counter-intuitive, but there will be less load on the motor when it's installed and producing static pressure than there is now in free air. The reason is because less air will be moved, thus less total work is being done. The load of the air(static pressure) doesn't translate into increased load on the motor. As an experiment, try blocking part of the intake with cardboard, and then put a brick or something to block most of the output air from flowing. See if the motor runs without overheating. - RogerRabbit"

SOOOO sexy base icks. I cannot keep my eyes off it but there are a few more things I need to take care of before I take it out for a test run. First I need to go and purchase a cheap furnace filter to rig up as a prefilter on my blower. I would like this hood to last as long as possible so a prefilter is a must. As well I need to find a good table somewhere to be set up as my dedicated flow hood workspace. This will be a bit tricky as my hood measures about 2.5 feet from back of motor to the front of the filter so I figure I need at least 3.5-4 feet to give myself a good work area in front of the hood. Either way more pictures are sure to follow both in this post and my Flowhood Help post. Thanks for the feedback and kind words everyone!

Went and got my prefilter today.
Found A Merv 8 Allergen Reduction Electrostatic furnace filter today. I got two 11X20X1 filters for $9 CDN. They claim to filter: -Debris and lint -Household dust -Pollen -Dust Mite debris -Mold Spores -Pet Dander
I plan on changing the filter 5-6 months from now or if visible accumulation of debris, dust and lint happens. Here is a picture of how I attached it. I know it is not professional but it works. The tape pictures is automotive weather stripping tape. I took a lit stick of incense to make sure the pre filter was secured and it only sucks the smoke in by the front pleats not at any seams or corners.

I will add the cost of the filter to my list above bringing my overall cost to $317 CDN.

Dude, where did you find a blower that large at that price!? I've just started buying my supplies for a DIY humidifier w/ Cool Mist & Fogger. My main problem is the blower and it's cost. Got the Barrel and fogger for around $150 total so far. Just need to know where to get a blower. Obviously I'd be using a smaller one. here's the tek for it: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7555252#7555252
I'm sure you're aware of it, but still, you said you're going to be getting into making your own. I did have a bit of a problem finding the "right" barrel, but I found a few on Amazon.com sold by Global. The shipping is what got me on them...can't believe that stuff!

Found the blower on kijiji.com , another good place to look is in the classified adds of paper. Another option is to call around HVAC places and ask if they have spare or old blowers you could take off there hands for free or for a nominal fee. As for the humidifier I think I might go with a smaller chest style one . Also take a look to see if there are any auctions in your town. I can usually find plastic rain barrels for 5-10 dollars a piece, and 55 gallon steel drums for about the same. Happy hunting!
Hcrider: Thanks for the kind words brother! Love helping out fellow Canadians, feels good man! As for the HEPA for a gift how do you think I got mine? I paid for half the hepa and the blower, the rest was birthday gifts from friends and family is a good way to go about it!
