today I finally bought some vermiculite after not finding any for a long time... well, when I opened the bag I noticed that it was fine and not course. will this cause a problem?

There was a thread about this earlier.. a search wouldn't kill you.
Fine vermiculite can tend to let the substrate compact and get dense thus less air thus slower growth. You can compensate by using whole brown rice, or grind it yourself but very little so there is a lot of big chunks.

you'll be fine just remember to not pack the substrate down and watch your water content.

Don't worry about it dude. My friend has always used fine grade, it's worked wonders He even recommends it over the coarse grade.
