hospital rant

So, I'm still in the damn hospital. I've got girl problems, so I'm on the birthing floor. I HATE this place it is everything I hate about this culture, from the stupid fucking nurses who think they know more about my body then I do (and they are actually fucking clueless) to the screaming of newborn infants who only need to be attatched to a nipple and see their mommie's face, but are instead given injections, eye drops and plastice boobs with rubber nipples...
And they tell me to get some rest... Yeah right!! I wouldn't even be here if the damn ER doctor would have listened to me in the first place, but they thought I was a med-seeker, so instead of giving me an ultrasound, they gave me pain medicine and sent me away to get worse...
I HATE WESTERN MEDICINE!!!!!!

Yeah, living past 50 really sucks ass, as does not dying from minor infections or getting polio.
I know you're in pain, but Jesus.

For real. I have had nothing but good experiences in hospitals, except for the being sick part.
Most doctors and nurses I've met have been extremely nice people who would go out of their way to help me out when I was sick and in need.
Without western medicine, I probably would have died like 3 times already.

I am stuck paying bills for no service or time recieved - an IV of morphine and five minutes is not worth 2400+$ but when you're afraid your appendix may have ruptured you take the gamble. Recovering on my own I found myself having paid hundreds of dollars and hour for a bed in a tiny white room and a few drops of a drug that costs hardly anything at all.
I could handle 2-300 for an IV even though it's ridiculous because I'm too prissy to stick myself - that's service. But the doctors? They literally did nothing. They poked me with a stick basically.
I feel like it's the 1300's and we're paying monks for snake oil.

Nobody's kidding here dude. Next time you get taken in unconscious and wake up $50,000 in debt for unneccessary medical procedures only to be left without explaination as to why you had a seizure and to be told to go find a specialist and spend even more money, then we'll talk about trolling.
This type of shit happens to people.

I work in the medical field, and even I disagree with most of the standards and practices and I want to have socialized medicine. I doubt my pay check will get lower and I can say for almost certain that treatment would improve. I've helped do procedures that cost us maybe 40 dollars that cost the patient 2500 dollars. And, don't think most of that money goes to nurses, techs, etc. Most goes to the people who own the companies and then the doctors are a step or two lower than that.
An example would be if you own say six medic units, you can make absolute BANK. Each will probably rake in about 8 grand of profit a day, at least. Like, that's if it's a slow day.

I am here because I would have bled to death if I wasn't. Western Medicine is all that is available to me, besides myself personally doing research, diet change, and prayer (all of which I do).
I hate that western med docs never, ever ask me about my diet, that they never believe me when I tell them what I intuitively think is up with my body, even after I have been proven right time after time. They go with as many interventions ($$$) as possible, then they rely on test results (which are full of false positives and false negatives on a regular basis) to determine treatment...

So what do you intuitively think is wrong with your body?
What have they been testing for?

You have a source for that information or are you just making stuff up?

I came to the ER in severe pain. It was in my right side, and two weeks too soon for my period. I thought I had an ovarian cyst, as I have had them before. I told the triage nurse, the ER nuse, and my doctor that I wanted an ultrasound, and thought it was an ovarian cyst. Instead, they ridiculed me for marijuana usage, did some blood work, a pelvic, which hurt like hell but revealed nothing, and gave me loratab, and sent me home, with an appointment in a week to see an OB/GYN.
The next day, I began bleeding in ridiculous amounts, I went back to the ER, and they gave me some drug (provera) to stop the bleeding, and sent me home again.
Two days later, I am weak and pale, can hardly think straight, much less move, my bleeding has gotten worse, I am going through a pad AND a tampon every 20-45 minutes, and I realize it is serious. I go back to the ER. They do nothing, but give me demerol and send me home with an appointment the next morning for doctor.
The next morning I go to the doctor, she realizes I am hemmoraging, and admits me to the hospital where they give me 5 transfusions as I only have 4 units of blood left in me, and the next day does surgery to find a few unruptured cysts, and found out that my ovaries and fallopian tubes are matted to the back of my uterus with "a fluid that looks like pus (but they aren't sure what it is without the lab results) (I think this is peritoneal sepsis)...
As of right now, I am being pumped full of antibiotics for the "pus-looking fluid" they still "don't know what is wrong" with me, though it is obvious that I have suffered an ovarian cyst rupture, and sepsis of the peritoneal cavity due to irritation from the cystic fluid...
Ofcourse if they said that was what was wrong with me, they'd expose the ER doc's to the possibility of a lawsuit (tho I wouldn't do it) because they wouldn't give me an ultrasound when I asked for one.
Of course the doc had a right to think i was an ignorant med-seeker, after all, I admited in triage to use of marijuana...
I think maybe I have the right to bitch right now.

As for sources on false positives and negatives, check out the false negative rate for hypothyroidism (easily treated with a pill, but often missed until the thyroid actually has to be removed), then check out the false positive for the triple screen test during pregnancy (causing unecessary amniocentesis, which carries a risk for miscarriage, AND a further possibilty of false positives for other disorders, sometimes ending up with an aborted fetus that was actually healthy).
I haven't been to school for any of this, I just study what is relevant to my life, I don't have sources, for it all, but I am not making it all up either.
I felt like bitching in the pub about something that is actually happening to me right now, and I didn't know I was required to back it up with sources in this particular forum...
