A friend of mine was wondreing what the best tek for casing is. He would like to find one that is not extremely difficult and is a high producer. Thanks. He appreciates all your help. Quote:

i dint think there is a best really cause they all depends on so many factors that i think its hard to really determine which is the best one.. now i can recomend that you read this and make a good decsion for your self.
from what i have read here on this board everyone pretty much says that 50/50 is pretty much the way to go. some say 100% perlite is the way..
I right now am doing a 100% perlite and everything is doing fine. I will next do a 50/50 mix casing and see what worked better for me..
have fun and always read read then read some more..
peace!

Thanks. I have been reading for the last month or so. It seems like everytime that i find some tek that i am going to use I find another one that promises better yeilds. I just want something that is going to produce and not the bare minimum only. I will just keep looking though. I still have about 3 or 4 days before they are going to be needing to come out and cased. PEACE

I have not cased yet. I am still in the incubator stage. I used verm/brf as my substrate.

It depends what your goal is. One big massive flush, many good flushes, or something easy to do and not prone to contam.
Crumbling your cakes in large tupperware containiers and covering with a 1/2-3/4" of your casing layer of choice will be the easiest.
It's the ideas behind each TEK that are more important than what TEK is best. Surface area, pH of casing, "lightness" of casing (so stuff can grow thru it), moitsure retained...

sos tek blows. theres wayyyy too little substrate per cup.
if you want to pasturize some poo (which is pretty simple, just takens an oven and 3 hrs) poo is a wonderful bulk substrate. you can knock it up with pf cakes too.

Straw and dung cased with coir and verm. It's not the easiest tek but it's not brain surgery either, and the yields are very nice.

What is the best tek for lots of good flushes. I know I need to be patient to recieve what i want. So even if it may take a little longer it is probably best to have alot of decent flushes than on big one. Quote:

I think about the best you can do is dung/straw cased with your favorite casing layer. I have done straw twice with no casing layer and gotten the biggest fruits I have ever grown, however it ran out of nutrients (I guess) and only flushed once. My next try will be with 50/50 dung, straw, cased with coco coir and vermiculite, as I have heard nothing but good things about dung and straw, and the casing layer allows for multiple flushes. I have heard of as many as 8 flushes from a cased dung container. You can't go wrong with the original.

Right now, AFOAF is doing some "FAT CAKES" inspired by eatualive's flat cakes. He crumbled 3-4 cakes in CLEAR (this way he gets fruits on the side and top and bottom) tupperware containers (use size where you get 1.5-2" of substrate depth). Maximum surface area! He admits he is still a noob, but he is happy with how things are coming along.

All he did was crumble and case with 1/2" of coir/verm on the TOP and BOTTOM. Then he incubated and patched twice. Once they started showing pins he took them out of the container and put them on foil in his rubbermaid with perlite. Fans about 4 times a day. Mists when they start to look dry. But he will be putting all this in a grow log soon.
Simple, cheap, and requires little maintainence. Yields are yet to be determined, but look fine to him so far. yum yum
He would like to do rye and poo next time, since the rumor is this is the best for cubies. But for his first grow he wanted to keep it simple.
