I am trying to find out if these are edible, psychotropic mushrooms. I have a feeling they are... They are still fairly young shrooms, but upwards of 50+ individuals were found in several clusters in the same 4 square foot area.
Habitat: Found growing in Philadelphia suburban yard in moist soil/grass under fallen leaves. Not near trees, though near a "brown patch" of dirt where a small tree may have been removed years before.
Gills: off-white, possibly brown, attached *check out pics
Stem:Length= ~1.5 inches, diameter= 3/16", color = white, same color as gills, texture= soft and smooth, I think its hollow * check pics
Cap: Diameter= 3/4", color= gradient of beige at tips to golden brown at top, texture= soft, able to see "lines" of the gills, conical and convex *check pics
Spore print color: Currently in progress..
Bruising: Time will tell

Nice! But unfortunately, they're not magical shrooms, but maybe I'll pick some for a breakfast omelet tomorrow...

Don't do that! If you drink alcohol that is! Has terrible antabuse effects. Throwing up and other bad effects. I hear can last a few days or more.
-------------------- In ancient times, when demons roamed with man, They hunted, loved and lost, hand in hand, As time went on, the difference between them faded. You couldn't tell anymore, demons and man were related, and some would say the same, but who would like to claim? In time, Gods had even forgot, Demons, too, once love had sought. In times recent I remember, Once I was a man, In my heart I had an ember, I'll relate the best I can but it was snuffed, one distant December. And yet here I stand, no flesh, no bones, no seed or semen, All that's left is this Demon.

That's not true. You are talking about Coprinopsis atramentaria. This effect hasn't been observed in most other coprinoids. That said, I still see no reason why anyone would want to eat them unless they were starving.

Ah. Thanks=D I could have sworn 6 months ago wikipedia said C. micaeus would do the same. As they are common, I guess i'll give them a try next time I see some. I'll do an ID request first because I do enjoy my beer and wine.

I enjoy my beer and wine as well and that's another reason why I wouldn't eat coprinoids, because knowing my luck I'd be eating them and having a few brewskis and then go to wikipedia to find a new comment on C. micaceus: "Recent studies show this species to cause the same effects as C. atramentaria when consumed in combination with alcohol".
