Question about the use of Myco-bags.
    #1342982 - 02/28/03 11:54 AM (22 years, 2 months ago)

this is my first post to the shoomery and would like to say hello to everyone and thank the administrators and moderators for all the effort they put into the site.

(the search engine and faq's have been consulted before posting.)

some one i know recently ordered a myco bag and one syringe of b+ p. cub. when he ordered the bag it was still available from sporeworks. now, presumable because of the recent bust of another online fender, they no longer offer myco bags. with the myco bags went their instructions, and with the instructions went the person i know's ability to use the myco bag.

so far these are the steps he has taken:

1. washed hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap.
2. sterilized the injection site of the bag with a paper cloth heavily sprayed with lysol cleaner. (no IPA was available)
3. sterilized the needle with the same.
4. inserted and injected 1cc of the solution to the left of the bag.
5. reinserted and inject 1.5cc of the solution to the right of the bag.

he has now placed the bag sitting up, inside of a box, in the closet. (the closet should remain well above 70 F.)

he will wait for mycelium to colonize all of the substrate. at which point he will remove it from the box and leave the closet's fluorescent light on for a few hours a day. once pinheads start to form and it's time to birth the substrate, he's not sure what to do next.

What should he do to allow for fruiting?
After first harvest, what should he do to help insure more flushes?

he thanks you for your time and help in advance.

go to the faq and click around, anyways, spray it with some water, lower the temps, cold shock it/dunk it in the fridge for 24 hours, learn all about it at the shroomery faq

i've gone threw the FAQ's. i haven't seen anything about fruiting and having multiple flushes in bags.

When it's time to fruit does he just cut the top off the bag?
Then spray it with water and seal it back up for a second flush?
