Error in Mushrooms Demystified photo of Cyanescens?

Could someone out there who owns Mushrooms Demystified by David Arora, please verify:
It looks like his color plate (88) of "Psilocybe Cyanescens" is definitely not cyanescens. There is no striate margin, no waviness to the cap. I'd almost say it looks like an azurescens.
Can you have cyanescens without these features? Is that what a California variety looks like?

I've always thought that the photo is actually Psilocybe "cyanofriscosa"

Not really. The ones I've seen in person as well as those from photos always show a striate margin, lighter in color and thinning at the margin.
Arora's photo shows no striation of the margin, little to no thinning. I don't know...
He doesn't make very kind statements regarding his stereotype of mushroom users in that book. Maybe he doesn't know psilocybes that well.
Yum, either way.

Sometimes very good identifiers think they're above the obsession that others have with Psilocybes.

Nah I wasn't talking about me.
I'm obsessed with Psilocybes. I don't think David Arora lives in Buckhurst Hill.

yeah...well, the top one with the hygrophanous cap is a cyan, but the others are 'friscosa', which is pretty much the same as cyan, but doesn't get wavy cap
that published photo is one of the early sightings of the new 'friscosa', which is basically cyans with a convex cap
It may be named a new species some day, but it will still be forever closely related to cyans..BTW, it really happens only in the bay Area which is where Aurora is from..You won't see too much of it in Seattle...not like the Bay Area, anyway
basically, Aurora is was not totally wrong to call all those cyans...not totally right either, but they're...uh...working on it
it's actually a pretty good example of how they can grow together, and possibly be the same plant
PS, notice the eucalyptus leaves in the photo...that's the california clue, and I bet it was Golden gate Park in SF too...haha

I understand. Thanks for the insights. For the record, I just wanted to understand what was going on. Wasn't trying to front on some expertise or anything. Just testing my very new knowledge. (only had my first cyanescens find yesterday, which is why I was looking at Arora's book anyway.
Cheers!
