Salvia guarantica, and an intersting article

I picked up several cuttings of Salvia guarantica today and I must say it's an amazing plant. It has beautiful flowers, squared stems, an absolutely wonderful smell, and you can make tea out of the leaves. And, I did a little research and found out that not only do the leaves contain a diterpenoid compound similar to Salvorin A, so do many other species of Salvia and also Coleus. I'm now wondering about how many more entheogenic species of plants are out there waiting to be discovered! I'm not saying to go out and start smoking random leaves, but do some research and see what's out there. I recommend checking out the local greenhouse and see what they've got, you'll probably be surprised. I can't wait to make a cup of tea and see how it tastes! http://www.entheogen.com/TOPsalvia.html
Salvia guarantica common name- Majestic Sage or Anise Sage, cultivar- "black n blue"

It may be a cultigen, or may have been one, but I would imagine that it's been bred over the years to get it to smell the way it does and to have the leaf and flower color that it has. Since the plants came from a major distributor, I would have to guess that its not a cultigen. I'll do a little research on the history of this plant and try to see where it originated from. Then I'll reply back to this post with what I find.

Maybe it is a cultigen. It's a native species from Brazil and Paraguay, what's been done to it between here and there, I really don't know.
