You can use agar to select the best sections, and thus get a better isolate of that species, but it doesn't always mean it's better. Most of the time it is, but only if you select those that are worthy of taking, best of the best. Using spores in a solution of 2% "karo", or honey in 1gal water will give you germination after a little while, but nothing clean, so if you do this, it MUST be sprayed outside and never used for anything else. It works but is just not as effective.

I got this weird thought about wiper fluid sprayers. What if you set up one on each side of your car, or whatever, and use a separate reservoir for spore solution or LC? Just drive by an area, flip a switch, and start spraying all over. Wouldn't be too hard, so I'll try to make a prototype using my SUV. Just a thought
So this is a year late but still relevant. We used to drive around Ann Arbor in a minivan that had a squirt gun nozzle glued to it's back window wiper sprayer. We had it locked at 45 degrees for maximum distance and used to spray frat boys with nasty smelling crap without them ever knowing where it came from. Behold, the weapon.

Hell yeah on agar psylo! It's the way to go for sure, but I think this thread is still cool! It's super helpful for beginners or those looking for these "low-tech" propagation methods. Whatever works!

love the idea of the spore gun! has anyone had any success disposing of old cakes in a nutrient rich environment and just let nature do its thing with success? kind of a fun way to throw out spent cakes.

So to spore containing wash water added honey:

That was a couple of days ago and some myc strands starting to show. But is there a limit to the time you can leave this unsterile mix before the bacteria etc ruins? Seem to remember Symon saying had to be put out to outdoor chip after 2 - 3 days
And to what degree do you shake/spin and how often?
Thanks in advance to whoever replies

I wouldn't worry about the honey. Wash water is good and thick with spores, and dumping them on prime locations does wonders. I wouldn't leave that mixture in bottles for more than 24 hours, and even then, I would be keeping it outside in the cold, or in a fridge.
Soooo, are you rubbing/printing spores onto your hunting clothing yet

Read about a lady who would do spore prints on her shirt and a wide brimmed hat before she went to concerts. "crowd dispersal"..

I go to airports , thinking global, and of course any place I am hunting. Always a good idea to drag spores along with ya while out getting some

This thread is groovalicious, but one thing I've not read is about spraying/applying spore-water during rain... will the spores catch the substrate as the LC is washed thru? Or will the rain wash off the spores? I only ask as I have 4 bottles of cyan LC waiting to go out but it's still raining!
Should I apply in the rain?

Apply LC ASAP bro! The sooner the better. Rain could wash it deeper where you want it.

Cheers bud
This is what's being spread - 1/4tsp sea salt, 1tbsp brown sugar (Barbados cane sugar)... there are white bits floating about but no 'strands' like I see in other LC's. We good?

Looks alright man! Spread it before it goes sour on ya and if you find wild fruits pinch stem butts and start indoor spawn and gather and spread stem butts to new (personal) spots stembutts are the best nucleus to start new patches also note burying agar plates got swim some nice patches started before:) it's nearly impossible to stop wood lover spawn. Lives thru raging heat/dry weather and wicked bitter cold. Spread the love / genetics the mushroom gods WILL repay you

So I've got some sport prints laying around of Cincts and Gyms. Kinda considering going for this after some agar work. Although once I get the agar looking good, what time of year do I go spraying it?

LC spread - 2 more bottles to spread tomorrow. Thanks for the assistance.
Got some stem butts colonising as I type. Some of the tubs I started last week have begun to colonise - will take pics and get a grow diary going
