spores said: back in the day when I used to hunt cyans a lot I'd often come across patches that were too old to be worth picking/eating. I'd still go ahead and pull some of the mushrooms to carry around while hunting and toss them around freshly mulched habitats. this resulted in at least a couple areas that were massively infested with cyanescens the next few years, as in one could pull a couple grocery bags full out over the season and still not really put a dent in the colony. if you pick some good sites to do this, one can end up with huge patches off the radar of most hunters. here are some pics from one small park on the east side that I did this to back in '04-'05, had it to myself for most of the life of the patches . waaaaay more than I could pick, most just grew and rotted away. I'd ballpark it at producing 30+ wet pounds total over a season .

just a quick tip for the lazy. even if you go to the work of making spore solutions/LC's and spreading them around growth isn't guaranteed, I'd wager tossing some old caps around likely habitats while you're hunting is just as effective in starting new patches, along with being much quicker and easier.
Went through most of this thread and wanted to make sure it made it to the "My Threads" area. Also, the post above was a highlight for me!

Best timing for this? Turn it right around in the fall, or wait till spring?

Since I already bumped up this thread, here is a cardboard TEK for expanding mycelium from fresh mushroom butts, here is another cardboard TEK.
If there is a specific TEK for how to take the mycelial growth from cardboard and turn it into an easy-to-spread liquid form, I'm all ears. And if there are suggestions as to timing (fall versus spring) for spreading the mushroom love, that would be good too.
Also what about mixing other elements into patches we seed, to help the growth along? A little vermiculite? Some gypsum?
In short, help me dial in the best patch-spreading approach. I'm gonna try to start at least ten more patches in my area.

I got a print of Argentinas from fsre and used them to spray the field behind my house about a month ago. Anyone know if they have a chance of surviving the winter? I live in oklahoma. Might have been a total waste,

Bravo to you sir!!! Nice work. Question, what was the LC sprayed on? Are there woodchips under the weeds etc? I would assume so, just can't see any.

ya there is chips under the weeds. it has stiff competition from a really really prolific winecap patch so i am quite pleased they made an appearance.

What was the ratio of sugar:salt? Does it matter how much water you use?

1/4 teaspoon of non iodized salt, 1 table spoon of sugar or mlight molasses to 1 gallon of water. boil for 10 mintures. let sit over night covered. pour into jars or containers, scrape in spores. wait 3-5 days , load in spray bottle. spray light colored ( hard woods or fir) wood chips. wait 1 year .
then enjoy the blessings like what i saw today.
