This maybe a dumb question, but I was wondering if any of the woodlovers you guys have growing would survive here in Florida. I have thought that about Psilocybe Weilii also. How come they grow 1 state away but not here? I'm tired of Cube's,and Gym's. I want to find something new.

Dont forget about searching for Floridas own rare wood lover  Psilocybe mammillata !!! you could get those going in your yard for sure. there was a thread inspired by me bugging people in the Florida cube thread about finding this mushroom. search for it and add to the discussion.

thanks fellas!! that was completely ghetto tek too i am stoked. i also have a pretty good looking Azzie bonsai going now too. its going to be mint.

ive also sprayed my whole yard with germinated pan subb spores . i was patching part of of my yard and the soil has manure in it too so i hope they spread.

my other project i started last year was introducing chantrelles to one of my bonsais that could have a mycrozial relation ship. so i left like 20 winter chantrelle, C tubaeformis , to rot amongst the most and th spruces roots. i have seen in stamts book and also witnessed a mushroom rot and turn right into mycelium.

so to make a long story short. it took months for those buggers to rot, butas i was spring cleaning my bonsais i lifted up some leaves to find all his, what looks like mycelium to me, growing through the soil . what does it look like to you?

and i had Agaricus augustus stem butts putt on coffee filter/ cardboard and now being buried in soil and chips . we'll see. i sure would dig a patch of them in my yard and neigbor hood!!

i also have some bonsai wine caps coming up!! man the primordia are actually white!! its so cool. i will share in a few days.

:datass: I'm proud of em. Looking nice Ryath:awedance: Give it more air. When I do my wood lovers with grain, I go straight from jars to chips and what not outside. they grow so much faster in the natural setting:sunny: I've been making these wood boxes and they're the shit. I'll be posting a tek in cultivation soon. On a side note, I use those same plastic tubs:hehehe: I'll post some pics in the next few days of spots I sprayed. Some of the chip areas look promising.

Having lived through an existence close to nature, one accepts the small and simple things as most important in life. Sun, wind, rain and snow. The sounds birds make, smells of fresh wild flowers. Love of all kinds, from friends and family, thy self and our neighbors. Beautiful sunrises to the darkest clouds dancing above in the sky. To forgive, learn, share and express. This is the only thing a man such as myself can ask for. What comes as the result is nothing short of the core of human existence, to truly live free in body and mind.

Very interesting, so no grain jar to sterile woodchip spawn bag step ever?

That's what happened with these, unless you mean from grain to chips in the ground?

I've never used that step. Just soaked chips, moistened soil, mixed or layered with spawn or stem butts and good to go!

Cool info folks, nice to keep things as simple as possible :laugh:

Had a couple of colinised PF tek jars leftover (had held them back but not needed now/scared of eventual contamination) so in true 'ghetto-tek' style took a mooch to a spot round the corner from me where a load of Oak were felled (and woodchips left behind :awesomenod:) and proceeded to scoop out a couple of holes, insert cakes and cover over.

Will be interesting to see what becomes of these :mushroom2:

In fact, the rinse water from jars used for woodlovers and any other waste which one would consider to contain negligible amounts of mycelium are dumped out here.

Spent petri dishes etc will all be put to chip on the basis that the smallest amount of mycelium could theoretically multiply itself up ad infintum!

So each little piece will get it's chance...

if its azzie mycelium, i am finding it to be quite vigorous!  not quite as hardcore as wine cap spawn but a bit more than cyans.

thx Wisco!

So... went to transplant some goodies and found some minor spreading of unknown mycelium. Found somewhere else and done.

Oh, I am so excited for this fall :super::header:

Is there any way to ID? Are there other rhizomorphic, wood-loving species?

I've seen mycelium turn blue when stressed out by drying. I don't know if that can be used to ID it though.

Man, it could be anything just based off visual aspects. I have a few different random species growing in one of my cyan beds. It's not a big deal and they all seem to be happy:sunny:

my friend showed up with a small bag of azzie spawn so i put it to work!.

most of it i put in this bonsai pot, mixxed with oak chips and cased with garden soil.  its looking good and the myc is all thru the soil too. i just planted some grass clumps for fun the other day. i hope to see a few fruits from this pot this late fall.

then i put one or 2 small colonized wood chips in some cardboard.it spread like mad.

then i sandwhiched some more oak chips taco style..

it spread some MORE!!

now i put that small taco in a bigger piece of soaked cardboard and added more oak chips and cardboard chunks to make a biiiig taco.

this taco tek works pretty good.:thumbup:

i am not sure when i am going to put this one outside. i may just grow it out all winter until next spring. we'll see what i feel like doing. i do like it outside more than inside.
