I tried doing that in a good spot in my yard, but I laid the manure down way too late so snow fell before any mushies came from it, but you could see mycelium colonizing the manure so hopefully when the season is right some magic will happen

hmmm thats cool, id like to see what hapens next season.
i germinated and went spraying semilanceata spores. it was a similiar place mentioned above where only a few were found. i just sprayed the shit outa the area. we'll see, i hope it works as its not a field so its not trespassing.

I agree, it's not dung loving... Sortnof think cows are more a vector for distributing the spores....
But... Think it does like good fertilizer.... Last great field I found had been turned so the grass mostly was underground.... But at one time, it had held cows
Let menses about the unknown
Might have a picture... Round I. Sept I think
White cap... Bluing stem... Purple spore print.... About 2 inch cap... Low to the ground and in the grass field

Will be interesting to see if the 'spraying germinated spores' boosts growth/fruits for semilanceata.
May have to have a blast if so! I would have thought good places to do this would be spots that just have a few stragglers about, thus showing the conditions are almost there. Would be easier to tell if it works too, I bet location and conditions key though

UKE, I think what Psylo is doing is probably the best way to go with semilanceata. Unless you feel like blazing some new trails in experimenting... it is fun, if not productive.
An update... I took all the jazz from the pics on pg 23 and transferred/split them to four separate quart jars filled with organic soil and boiled chips per Psylo/Wisco recommendations. After 3 or 4 days, they are already moving toward the outer parts of the jar.

It should be about 25 days before they are totally colonized, right? Also, is a 1cm high layer of water something to worry about?
Thanks again to CubeBensies for starting this thread... so great!

Yup definately a great thread! I also "sprayed" semilanceata spores.... I tried four diferent mixtures in four seperate areas of a field.
- The first "tub" had the sugar, salt a sterile water base with spore prints scrapped in!
- The 2nd "tub" had the sugar, salt a sterile water with "busted up" Lib "bodies"
- The 3rd was a combination of spores and Fruit bodies!
- And the 4th was a combination as well.. but with "manure" mixed in!
Definately not as "cool" as some of the wood lovers ghetto teks I read about here, but it's a starting point to hopefully expand upon! best of luck to everyone though!

Thanks guys! I'm not really expecting any major results but I tried to use areas of my field that weren't as prolific as my main spots... I'm hoping by doing so if one of the areas fruits better than in past I'll know which mixture it was, and then I'll try repeating it with larger amounts the following year! I think next year I may also take my 1st haul of the season and make a solution as quickly as I can.... then re-distribute it back onto the field! I want to see if applying it earlier in the season is beneficial... either that same season or the following. Anyways as always best of luck with all your projects!

SWIM found that Scotts black mulch has worked very well. SWIM injected smoothies directly into the bags using hamburger joint ketchup/mustard like squeeze bottles. Bags left to perculate for awhile...

hey ghetto tekers! I wanted to give an update for those of you out there hesitant to try doing any of the things discussed in this thread. I have no prior cultivation experience and have mostly been reading from shroomery. actually, my cult experience started with this thread! (GG&MM and the cult forum came next )
here are some stem-butts to soaked wood chips/egg carton/organic soil that were started about a month ago. the lids are Tyvek (thx Wisco!) with lots of holes. I got cobweb in my "green" jar (lower set of images), but with more holes and some FAE, it cleared up and is charging through the available nutrients. (check my journal for more details)
Nothing more than this jar has impressed upon me the value of patience. This one showed absolutely no growth for weeks...
this is my best one so far, though I have another experiment going that I expect to outmatch it. This one started on egg carton that had been soaked in wood-water in an attempt to get some lignoculous nutrients in the carton. It was in a sealed tupperware, then I transferred it to soaked chips after it took a good hold on the carton.

GG&MM says cyans take 45-60 days to consolidate at 65-75F. I saw this after worrying the slow-going upper jar and waited; it paid off.
keep sharing! this is awesome!

LOOKING STELLAR there Ryath and remember to still use mason jar lids - poke the holes in the metal lid - and use a tyvek layer tho underneath it - check some of my pics for better examples - it keeps in the moisture nearly perfect - while alowing them to breathe MUCH MUCH bro Your cyan jars make me
- oh - glad ya found patients is KEY with woodlovers - they are hardy as ever - and fruiting can take patients too - but OH SOOOOOOO WORTH every minute waiting

I'm pretty sure that's what I had done prior to how they are now (just tyvek lid with needle-point holes) and got cobweb (not enough FAE). I figure they are used to getting some competition outside anyway that they should be fine. they seem to be doing much better now

So here is a question I have been pondering... For all you who are using mason jars to start your mycelium: How do you get all of that substrate/mycelium out of the mason jar? Also, do you bury the matter, or do you leave it above ground?
Nice jar Ryath!

wide-mouth jars = win. it does clump though, so you kinda have to shake it out. I have only transplanted one jar so far. I layered thick level of soil, 3-5 cm of soaked chips, then jar contents, some more chips and sprinkled with more soil. the mycelium is about 3-5 cm below the surface. if these fruit, they are going to be in a highly photogenic shot with a winter deciduous CA buckeye. fingers crossed...
