i make woodlover mason jars with tyvek material too:headbanger::thumbup: SUPER SOLID ADVICE HERE - - also note: you can get ( TOTALLY FREE ) tyvek from your local post offices :awedance::awedance: just go in and ask for a BUNCH of tyvek mailing envelopes:thumbup::thumbup: some post offices even keep stacks just laying around - and ITS FREE folks:awedance: and i always ALWAYS used standard mason jars for stembutt-to-chip jars - and i take the normal metal lid and ( drill ) about 9 to 10  1/8inch holes in the normal metal lid - then place a circle cut piece of tyvek ( free envelope ) over that and screw on the normal metal ring lid and i do it TIGHT!!!!! - -- - hope that helps some of you out - then you got a solid space to shake em up if you wish too - and they still get PLENTY of air exchange!!!!!
Much Much woodlover  fellas!!!!
Happy Holidays:smile:

iight my cyan clone just died on me lol not sure if it was because i was using pasturized egg carton instead of cardboard but after it fully collonized the woodchip the stem butt was growing on it just died it didnt even touch the egg carton
i always thought egg carton and cardboard were both made of pretty much the same material

soo today i filled two spray bottles with water and cyanfriscosa spores i went to were i found my first and only cyan patch and douced all the woodchips in the area and mixed it up well then covered it with redwood duff to protect from the frost the will come sooner or later
i then emptied the rest of the bottles on a near by patch of freshly laid alder woodchips. but yeah im not really expecting anything but im interested to see if anything does happen

the egg cartons are for the stem buttts not so much for the spores. usualluy i put 1-3 in each cup and then cover them with small pieces of wet cardboard.

Cardboard tek:

It surprises me it has been barely mentioned here pardon bfogg8706 touching on with his chips in LC experiment:

Quote:

This is how I make my wood lover liquid cultures. The process starts with soaking hardwood chips in water over nite. The water absorbs nutrients from the wood chips which makes an excellent broth. The tea is poured thru a coffee filter to strain out any small particles... and... Karo was added.

My guess is such a nutitious broth would help speed things along and give the edge of contams :headbang:

?

wow i just found the sweeeetest thing!!!

i had this small bucket i had some water in i was using to dunk my cyans in the clean them. had to have been atleast a 100 dunked in this small bucket. well the water was dirty and had fuckin grass in it. i also dropped a few pieces of tinfoil that i had scraped most of the spores off.

so i let this shit sit uncovered in my garage for like 2-3 weeks. i was about to go pour it out in the garden chip bed when i decided to pour it in a glass first just to see if you could see any germination. to my surprise this is the fuckin thickest dirty lc EVER!! its got more visible pieces of myc then any of my other trials with cyans this year! like fuckin sooooo thick. not sure if the fresh air had anything to do with it like vjp was saying but holy man.

That's interesting, I have quite literally the exact same thing. It's a bowl of water that has been sitting in my room for about 2-3 weeks with all of the runoff from my cyan finds. I literally washed every cyan I found and let each one drip dry into the same bowl. The only difference is that while you "dunked about 100", I scrubbed down maybe close to 1,000 caps total. By now the water level has dropped in the bowl I have, but there is still about 4 cups of this "dirty ass lc"... I just have been letting it sit as I figured it has been too long to do anything good with. I was going to do the same as you and just hurl it onto some woodchips here soon for shits and giggles.

Ok, so i sprayed a bit too much water into a tub of chips I got going, and not being able to remove the chips on the bottom, I decided to transfer to a new container (I'm worried the really wet chips will start to mold). Here are some pictures. At the most, 6 weeks after spraying.

Having lived through an existence close to nature, one accepts the small and simple things as most important in life. Sun, wind, rain and snow. The sounds birds make, smells of fresh wild flowers. Love of all kinds, from friends and family, thy self and our neighbors. Beautiful sunrises to the darkest clouds dancing above in the sky. To forgive, learn, share and express. This is the only thing a man such as myself can ask for. What comes as the result is nothing short of the core of human existence, to truly live free in body and mind.

it might have been because you pasteurized it. I think I remember someone specifically mentioning not to do this and instead just soak your board/carton.

is all of your wood shaved? I was under the impression we should have a good mix of chips, dust, shavings, etc. to maximize take off and stability.
