lighting and heating question

AFOAF wants to know when the cakes are in the jars in the incubator, how much light would they need a day from a flourescent light? Because he is doin them in his garage an it is cold out(near the end of winter) Also he said he wants to know when they are in the fruiting chamber would he beable to get 90-95% humidity when its that cold out or would he have to use a heater again? an how much flourescent light would he need when they are in the fruiting chamber?

1. no light while incubating.

2. if it is colder than 60 or 65 F in your garage, you may want to alter your plans. incubation should be done at around 85 F. you may get away with colder to a point, but colonization slows dramatically the colder it gets.

3. lower temperatures increase rh, higher temps decrease rh. it sounds to me like temperature might be your bigger problem.

4. some people use no light, some people use a few minutes a day, some people run them for 12 hours, some 24/7. imho, somewhere between a few minutes and 12 hours is good.
