Another popcorn question
    #1340684 - 02/27/03 01:36 PM (15 years, 3 months ago)

SWIM soaked some popcorn for 24 hours and then loaded three quart jars 2/3 with it and put them in the PC for 1 hour. The popcorn still seemed a bit hard before they were put into the PC. Will this cause problems?

You have to simmer them for an hour also - soak for 24 hours, then put them in a pan and leave them over med. heat on the stove with a cover for an hour - they'll soften up a lot and be ready for the PC after that.

if you soak long enough, grains don't also
need to be simmered.

I don't think 24 hours was long enough.

worst case scenario, colonization may halt
if the water content is too low.

only time will tell.

you'll probably be fine.

I guess time will tell.  There ain't no going back now.  The jars are done.  I'll just have to wait and see.  At worst I've learnt something
