i cant see the humidity
    #1340249 - 02/27/03 09:13 AM (21 years, 1 month ago)

Alright, Right now friends pet dog poo pile is having trouble telling if there is humidity in his fruiting chamber. His jars are almost done colonizing and it doesnt seem that the fruiting chamber is humid enough. He doesnt have any damn money to get a meter thing. I say this because his chamber doesnt have any condensation on the walls or roof. It did at one point in time but not anymore. Would it be time to change the perlite already. its only a few days old. So i guess his question is: Should there be dew on the walls of the chamber. If this doesnt make sense im sorry. Im drunk early on a thursday afternoon.

With perlite you wont really see water droplest all over the place but you'd see what looks like some white mist fogging up the sides. Is that how it looks?

yes thats how it looks, sometimes. But it has not been looking like that in the past two days. Its like the perlite is not working.

what's the temp . warm air holds more humidity, if it's like 74 degrees you probably won't see condensation until 98 or 99% rh, but if you put a bag of ice next to the glass you should see condensation inside as soon as the glass chills .

Just stick your hand in there and see if you can feel the humidity. If you can feel it, then there's most likely enough.

"warm air holds more humidity..."
>>so does that mean if ur temp is high in ur terraium, the humidity will also be high?
and that if one wanted to lower the humidity, one should lower the temp..esp if a acquarium heater is used at regulating temperature within
the fruiting chamber?

he said to mix 80% water with 20% h2o2. the h2o2 just sterilizes the water.  If ur worrying about humidity, just make sure the perlite is damp. Soak it in water then drain it and apply to the surface of the terrarium. Mist  the sides  a few times. and keep the lid closed in the terraium.  Use a acquarium heater to regulate temp, my siamese cat puts hers at 26C and condensation alwayz forms.  When u open the lid u can feel the high humidity and warm air circulating in there.  Casings dont need a high humidity , only  during pin formations do they need it.

my friends set up lost all the goods, (RH), when his old beaten fish tank heater died, the wals are dry as a bone. out to the store i go, to fine another heater, it is funny the difference thos heaters make.

I have A cool mist in my grow chamber and it can get up to 100% humdity and I still wont see any water drops on the sides. If I open it up and stick my hand it there it feels alot warmer then the air on the out side. The temp is only 71 to 75 degrees in there. I also keep a pan of perlite in there.

Is a "myth" that you must see droplets of water on chamber walls to proove you have high humidity . That only happens after lots of build up and water vapor begins to condense , usually caused by a drop in temp , or when dew point is equal to air temp .
You reallly should get some sort of hygrometer , even if is "cheapo" , better than none . At least then you have some sort of quick visual refference to "see" that you are maintaing some sort of humid environment .
Good Luck
