I didn't like the music in a lot of the coffee shops. How can you relax and smoke a joint listening to heavy DnB or other such stuff. It puts you on edge.
Went to a cool local place where it was alllll chilllllled out. That's what I'd be after anwyay.

i also wouldnt mind a new ipod.
i have currently have 2 ghetto ipods. one got water damage when i brought a stirfry for lunch in my bag and it spilled everywhere and only works when plugged inot the charger.....the other is one of the crappy original ipod mini's that has like 30minutes-1hour battery life total.

i'd say i visited probably a dozen coffee shops or so in holland, and it seemed to me that about 80% of those i visited played reggae. now i like reggae, but it kinda all sounds the same to me so i get tired of it pretty quickly. it got to the point where i was specifically trying to find coffee shops that weren't playing reggae

I just want to not be alone this christmas..
Things I really wants not gonna happen, so Id just like to not feel so alone and fucked up this holdiday.. This year especially cause my birthday is in november... I turn 21 this year. I always feel like a loser cause I never do anything, except eat with my family.. Thats better than nothing I guess.. But damn, I dont know whats wrong with me. Always either too nice or too weird for other people....

"I have never in my life seen anything like this series. I had thought that the Blue Planet, also by the BBC, was the pinnacle of achievement of wildlife television. The deep sea episode had left me breathless, but that proved nothing compared to Planet Earth. The effort that went into this series is obvious. Only at the end of each show when we spend time with each of the crews do we really get a sense of what they had to do to bring such beauty before us. This is not self-serving "let's pat ourselves on the back" television. It only adds to the sense of wonder, and to the sense of how privileged we have been to see some of the rarest sights in nature. The camerawork is sensational. The killer whale rising out of the sea with the seal in its mouth, the diving hawks making their mid-air kill, the snow leopard bounding down sheer cliffs, the chandelier cave. All incredible. This is unlike most other "animal" tv shows, where the audience is patronised into listening to an ill-thought out anthropomorphic commentary which is little more than "ooohhh...isn't that cute" or "whoooah...isn't that dangerous". Attenborough is wonderful. He has the humility to understand that the show is not about him, and he is prepared to say nothing whilst our senses drink in "that shot" of Angel Falls or the intense colours of the Okavanga Delta. The behaviour of the Gobi desert camels left me speechless; you don't need some idiot telling you how amazing it is. I can recommend this serious without hesitation. This is public television at its best. It cannot be financially prudent to spend 40 days in the Gobi desert chasing Bactrian camels, but it takes real corporate bravery to say that natural beauty cannot be captured on the cheap. The camera techniques (remember the African dogs chase?) are priceless. You must watch this series. People at my office were discussing each episode for days afterward. Friends' children were having the same discussions - "oh my god - did you see that?" If 8 year old children and 60 year old lawyers have the same base sense of wonder, nobody will watch this and think, "it's just another documentary". This is nothing like you will have seen before. I thought I was a cynic, but this really has re-opened my eyes to the raw power of nature."

tiny_rabid_birds seems like he is doing ok considering. If your homeless you still have hope, things can still get better. If your health is fucked, there's not as much hope. I guess it depends on the health problems tho, but he mentioned moving around so im going to have to go with health as being the worse problem. Plus depending on where a person lives, being homeless might not be all that bad anyway, could have a nice big forest nearby, go build a little hut, hunt some deer, fish, find a nice cavewomen

I used to bump around in hippie communities in the tropics with no roof under my head for a number of years...
I dont want to direct this thread in wrong direction but i also want to say: if you are homeless and dont like where you are GET OFF your ass and move to another location/country where living is cheap and no cold (so u dont need to eat much and burn colories)

Last winter was my first here in NC. We got a few inches of snow and everything shut down for 2-3 days.
I moved here from MN, and the only way they would close businesses/schools there was if it was below -35F and extreme blizzard conditions.
I missed more days of school due to snow last winter at my college here then all four years I went to high school in MN.

i'm not actually homeless anymore. i'm just on the verge of being homeless because i can't pay rent and i'm having severe trouble finding a second job.
but all things considered, you're right in your assessment that i'm not too bad off. i've got friends willing to help make sure i don't go hungry, a steady supply of free bread from a local co-op, and most recently even a working car. shit'll work out.
