Rolling Meth Lab Explodes on Mississippi Interstate October 25, 2010 - myeyewitnessnews.com
SOUTHAVEN, MS - Southaven police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened when a mobile meth lab exploded on I-55 Friday, October 22.
It was 10:00 Friday night, when police say a driver on Interstate 55, near Starlanding, saw flames leaping from the car next to them.
Southaven police chief Tom Long says, "Someone witnessed what looked to them like an explosion in a truck. An individual jumped out appeared to be burned, there was fire in the vehicle, it caught the grass on fire." The fire department put the flames out in 15 minutes.
Long says this kind of "rolling meth lab" is becoming more common, "They're trying hard not to get caught. Theres a lot of odors, danger and law enforcement catching them, if they can rent a hotel room, keep it in a trunk keep it moving during this process of cooking meth it will work out better for them."
When dealing with the chemicals, there's also a huge risk of explosion. Just two weeks ago Southaven had another meth lab explode. Chief long says this won't be the end. "It's getting to be more common the explosion part because you have these people trying to cook meth and use the chemicals in a manner they were never supposed to do," Long says.
The driver suffered burns to his face, arms, legs and torso, he is in The MED in critical condition. At this point no charges have been filed and police have not released his name.

"Never supposed to" according to whom?
Chemical reactions, whether in nature or intentionally manipulated by humans, are only a problem if the process doesn't meet the goals. Combining meth precursors is no crazier than combining hydrogen and oxygen.

Well, there is the whole explosion factor in combining meth precursors that may make it a bit of a crazier thing to do than make water.

The whole media spin here is not about the "explosion", it's about contriving propaganda that some drugs are unthinkably evil and some "crazy chemicals" with complex formulas we just can't understand shouldn't be mixed together, for they undeniably produce ill effects that we cannot possibly understand.
It comes down to the fact some dumbass didn't know what he was doing and the media sucks it up like a whore. Simple.

Hydrogen and oxygen are pretty crazy. Twice the fun of pseudoephedrine.
