Fox, Laying it on thick.
    #1338160 - 02/26/03 04:11 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

Man... I have Fox News on in the background, which I keep on almost constantly  to find out what bullshit they are currently trying to feed us. Greta VanSusteren is on right now, suggesting to me that there may be terrorist cells in my own neighborhood that I don't know about!! Oh My God!  :smirk: Also, we're going to find out what in the world 4 middle eastern men were doing in upstate NY. Like they have any business being there, right? Also on Fox tonight, they showed a clip of Dubya saying "We will stay in Iraq as long as necessary....and not a second longer." Where thje hell does he get these gems from anyway?

shhhh... Quiet. You're not supposed to question authority. And the media is always right. Now be a good American and listen to what they tell you.

How about the new ABC show "Profiles from the Front Line" ?
In their ad they say "see a REAL FEAR FACTOR!" and they show some soldiers blowing shit up
" A REAL SURVIVOR, A REAL AMERICAN IDOL!"

It's like, "YEAH, WE'RE GOING TO WAR!! AND YOU DUMBASSES ARE GONNA LOVE IT!!!!"
Forget about WHY!
We're killin shit and it's COOOOL!

heh of course, you've gotta have the tv shows profiling the brave soldiers and their proud families to get you in the mood for war...Joe Armyguy says, "Lets go kick some Iraqi ass!"

Remember: It's not what the media shows the public, it's what they don't show that really matters...

I think (can't prove) sexuality is used as device on T.V. to make people think nothing is off limits, while I have Observed certain basic issues somehow never make it to the boob tube.

Ex: You own your body, not the government!

Please add your own examples!!!

Oh, sex is DEFINITELY used as a tool on television. This was stated flat out in my Advertising class, not that I really needed the confirmation. Ads, news, magazines, billboards, tv sitcoms, even the shape of your ketchup bottle, they are ALL designed in a fashion to try and make you feel or think a certain way. The power the media can have is frightening. I also learned in my Advertising class that almost all the television channels are owned by a rather small group of companies. Here's a list of the 10 biggest, which control most of the media:
