Pyschedelic Enhanced Enlightenment Journey

I my effort to understand what's been happening to me following an intense trip I eventually stumbled upon Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddhaby Daniel Ingram.
Reading through it I eventually get to the Progress of Insight section. Interesting what I find there...
Quote:
The Pre-Vipassana Stages 1st Vipassana Jhana 1. Mind and Body 2. Cause and Effect 3. The Three Characteristics
The 2nd Vipassana Jhana 4. The Arising and Passing Away
The 3rd Vipassana Jhana, The Dukkha Ñanas, The Dark Night 5. Dissolution 6. Fear 7. Misery 8. Disgust 9. Desire for Deliverance 10. Re-observation
In all my trips I have had 2 that I feel went above and beyond. They were my last 2 trips. Without getting into details...
Second to last Trip Matches 1st Vipassana Jhana description to a tee.
Last Trip Matches 2nd Vipassana Jhana description to a tee.
Aftermath of last Trip- Matches 3rd Vipassana Jhana description to a tee and is still ongoing.
Now, it occurs to me that I have effectively tripped my way to the very doorstep of the 4th Vipassana Jhana. The first path. Not bad for a guy who's only done 2 weeks of formal meditating.
What say you?

I'd say you're delusional like most humans.

Yeah yeah yeah. You're just jealous.

In all seriousness, the descriptions of the jhanas in that book do match up pretty well with my last two trips and the aftermath. At the very least it does show a continuity of experience between different people once you get to a certain level of insight into your head.
No different really than the reliability of the mental breakdown which occurs during a wilderness experience. Some might look at that and say it's spiritual, some psychological, but the fact remains that it is a repeatable and predictable thing.
The general view on pyschs is that everything is so completely personal that predicting what will happen is impossible. This seems to say otherwise. I find this very interesting with or without the concept of "enlightenment" being present.
So how about it my Buddhist friends, can I trip my way to "Stream Entry"?

Definately. This explains the psychedelic experience a whole lot better though (in terms of Tibetan Buddhism): http://deoxy.org/psyexp.htm And be careful

does the insight stay with you after the trip? are you making permanent inner changes at a deep level?
i'd say it's possible, i think psychedelics can trigger past life spiritual experience (that's my guess) - if it's working then great! don't skimp on the sober meditation though in leiu of just using drugs would be my advice

it's so weird how you perceive yourself as an emotionally extremely mature person but aren't even able to communicate on a basic level and spend all your time writing shitty one-sentence-answers. dude. you're a weirdo.

^^ Although I appreciate the support I actually think it's you guys doing the hijacking. Icelander was offering an opinion on the thread subject (me), not an irrelevant opinion on a poster.

Yes actually. It's been kind of tough lately since following my last trip I slippd into a bit of depression which shut down the more "mystical" part of my head. I was experiencing too much reality after that trip and shut a lot of it out. I am in the process of getting that back.
Really this is what I think a lot of the "dark night" idea in buddhist tradition comes from. You reach a certain level of insight into yourself through your experience (drugs, meditation, traumatic event etc) that you effectively have 2 different paradigms fighting it out in your head.
The old views are fighting for survival and until we can come to a new understanding it's rough going. It's a theory but that seems to be a large part of my experience so far.
I've started looking into meditation practice recently after finding this outline for what I've been experiencing. I can totally get into the idea that deep insight meditation and psychedelics are kids on the same play ground. At least my trips are like that.
Any of you meditators purposely using drugs in your practice? Terance McKenna once said his idea of the optimal way to explore the mind was some combination of meditation and drugs. Go as far as you can with one and then use the other to get you through...or bring you back again.
Something to think about...
I mean reading some of the stage descriptions in that book along with personal posts of at sites like DharmOverground and such it seems to me like what they are talking about...and what we are talking about are very similar things.
