Panaeolus cyanescens?
    #1337778 - 02/26/03 01:31 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

i think i have found some possible panaeolus cyanescens. i found the mushrooms early this morning growing out of horse dung in nearby bushland. i compared them with some photos on erowid.org and they're identical. each mushroom stands 4-5" tall and has light brown at the tip of the cap (this was hard to notice). there was no bruising, although there was a blue discolouration around the edge of the cap. the gills appeared to be a dark blue/purple, and a spore print later confirmed this colour. the mushrooms also didn't bruise. i didn't have my digicam with me but i will take some pics as soon as i get home. can anyone help confirm my find? thanks

Well, they should have bruised blue!! I have heard of findings which did not bruise blue....

The description matches, the spore print should be a jet black however...And, they usually grow from cow dung, rather than horse manure, but... pictures would be nice!

i dont thnk that you have found the blue meanies yet,

Panaeolus papilionaceas bears a lot of similarities
and these do not stain blue and do not contain the psychoactive chemicals
