Colorado waives medical marijuana fees for poor October 21, 2010 - Associated Press
DENVER -- Poor medical marijuana patients in Colorado won't have pay state marijuana registration fees or sales tax on the pot they buy.
The Colorado Board of Health approved a plan Wednesday to waive the $90 registration fee for indigent medical marijuana patients, starting Dec. 1. Patients who want their fees waived will have to show that they meet other government standards for indigence, such as qualifying for food stamps.
The Denver Post reports that poor pot patients also will have notations on their cards waiving sales taxes on the pot they buy.
A new medical marijuana law passed by state lawmakers this year called for lower fees for indigent medical marijuana patients.

The government removed a possible barrier for the impoverished and you have a complaint?
How about the 50-100$ they were spending on medication that was possibly killing them.
Bravo vegggie for seeing the importance of this decision.

There's always going to be abuse in the bureaucracy regarding government aid. But the fact of the matter is, legally, marijuana is medicine in Colorado. It's on the same level as pills for regulating blood sugar for diabetics, et cetera. Why should the poor be refused access to medicine, especially when other forms of medicine are provided for via Medicare/Medicaid?
Stop buying into all that right wing propaganda bullshit you hear from Glenn Beck. Not every person on welfare or government assistance blows their cash on crack and then spits out more babies. Does it happen? Sure it does. Is it a common occurrence? Of course not.

Don't you suppose that it is a matter of that State? For one thing, they are simply not charging a fee under income guidelines, so it is not like they are paying tax money out for that part and the other is not a matter of paying out benefits either, it is just waiving the collection of a tax on sales. So I do not see how anyone but Colorado is bearing the loss of potential monies and there is no way YOUR taxes are paying anything for it. Don't get me wrong - I think everyone should have some way or thing that they can contribute for as long as they are able, but really, in this case it seems exactly the right thing to do to me. Not for the one who abuses it but for the one who benefits from it and does have a hard time buying a gram, when others can sit back and suck a quarter up if they want to.
It may comfort you to know that I believe some states are considering putting restrictions on what people can buy as well, like "No soda pop with food stamps" I think?
<<I know people that get Oxy from the goverment that sells that shit so- thats what i am talking about>>
I don't see the comparison at all. Pot vs Oxy? ? I also wonder if you would ask every time you buy yourself a gram "Did you get this shit with food stamps bitch? If so, I ain't smokin' it!"

I'm guessing fewer than one in one hundred realizes that communist politicians have a profit motive for keeping people poor.
If you wanna hook someone up, no matter how deserving they are, do it without volunteering the wealth of others, by force.
