Straw Question
    #1335180 - 02/25/03 04:15 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

Hello folks.

Last night it apparently rained while I was sleeping. My bale (approx 4x2x2 feet) of straw was sitting out there, and now its sopping wet. I forgot to cover it because I didn't know it rained last night until this morning.

It's wet now, what should I do? It weighs around 50-70 pounds. It's very compact and tied together with string.

Is it still good to use or shall I woefully chuck it? Any suggestions/solutions?

Thank you.
daba

just do with it what you were going to do before it got wet.
don't you think straw bales get wet/dry/wet/dry several times before they get to the end user?

get the bale under cover if you can, but don,t cover it with a tarp .
you probably don't need a fan on it, it will dry pretty quickly in the open air .it would help if you put something under the ends, boards or bricks, or anything to get it off the ground so air circulates underneath it too.
