light from sides..

ok on my new terririum the walls are see threw blue.. so i didnt cut the top lids since i am asuming that there is alot of light going in threw the walls. Is this ok or should i cut the lid. this lid is air tight and i kind of didnt want to mess with it..

I wouldn't bother to cut a hole in the lid. They don't need much light. Just make sure you tape up the bottom if you are casing directly in the container.

are you covering the sides around the substrate layer to avoid mushies growing inbetween the 2?

the light thing is really only important to initiate pinning. some believe that if the light is coming from above, the mushrooms will, inturn, grow toward the light. but there are those who dont think so, or dont really mind scattered pins.
its all up to you man.
