here's a link to a post in the news sections and why i'm cross posting is to encourage all americans on these forums to actively write a letter supporting this bill. Write local officials including govenors senators and others at county levels as well. This is the only way people can be acquited from unjustly imprisoned like Ed in the future. It's imperative this initiative is heard and acted upon or the state of this issue will never change. Do your part to help guys united we can make a change.

I'd love to help Ed Roenthal and I live in the US. I just don't see how writing letters will free him. He's got no chance of a pardon and you can't petition the judicial branch.

well if one writes in support for the proposed bill then it will help limit the dea on prosecuting those like ed who are growing legally unnder state law.

It was the people of California that put Rosenthal in jail in the first place. If the people didn't support it then it wouldn't have happened. Remember it took a unanimous vote of 12 californians to put him away.

The only reason 12 Californians put Ed Rosenthal away was because they were not aware that he was growing the marijuana for a medical purposes.

psilo is correct on this one the judge wouldn't allot lawyers for Mr. Rosenthal to let him introduce any type of evidencee pertaining to medicinal grow or growing for the state of california since this was a federal court. This is what this new bill's goal is to stop and let the state's decide for themselves on the marijuana laws.

7 of the 12 jurors recanted their verdict when they found out the facts of the case. 7-5 split, Ed wins. Lie (or prevent the facts from coming to light) to 12 people, Government wins.

only because his defense was gagged and the jury heard a one sided story. but your missing the point of the post. it's goal is to get people active in writing local goverment officials in support for changing such laws that imprison innocent people under state laws.
