EZ, you do need some sort of light as P. Cubensis is a phototropic species. They will and need to grow towards the light source. That is why many people have problem with pure white terrariums (styrofoam coolers) I use sterlite containers with clear sides and a white lid. If you were to place in a closet or such, you would want to consider using a clear lid on whatever container you choose and provide a light from above. I will attach a pic showing their responce to light from GGMM by Stamets.

To finish answering your question, Back when I was sharing an appt., I used a closet setup with "natural" lights set for 2 hrs a day and that was sufficient. Mushrooms dont use light for photosynthesis, merely as an indicator. Hope this helps. Also, try and place the light outside of the terrarium so the high humidity won't cause corrosion and possibly a short.
