Inocybe sororia ?
    #13339362 - 10/15/10 11:45 AM (9 years, 7 months ago)

Found growing under pines, on the mossy woodland floor.  PNW

The cap is dry and fibrous, a buff tone, with an umbo.  Conic with a tufty margin.
Gills are attached, cream to turning buff.
Stem is the same color as the cap, fibrous and equal to the base.  Mine has a bit of left over from the veil at the base.  I can sort of peel it off.
Spore print is light brown.
Smells like corn (which I read about before actually observing) Smells like fresh corn.

Just this one picture, and I'm fairly certain, just more fun when I know for sure.  Thanks~

During the spring here in the bay area I can smell Inocybes (either the actual mushroom or the mycelium) growing.  It's not a pleasant aroma.  Sororias are probably the least obnoxious smelling of the genus.  Some of them are downright indiscreet.
