from what i have read pins come when there is good air exachange in your fruiting chamber. Now What is the optimal number of times to fan? 3 times for about 1 min is what i am doing now.. Anyone have any tips for a newbie?

Goto Wal Mart fork out $2.99 and mount a small battery operated fan on the top of your ter. Much easier, less risk of contams, and battery operated I run mine 5=6 times a day for 2 mins at a time along with the ultrasonic

optimal air exchange can only be determined when you know specifics of a setup. read TMC. it has a lot to do with the ratio of the cropping surface to the available air space of the growing area. Also, having a casing 3 inches below the lip of a tray will require more air movement than say a cake sitting on a shelf since the co2 will pool in the tray and flow away from that cake. for the simple answer fan 1-3 times per day or setup some automated airflow.

IME this is an overkill with P. cubensis.
2-3 times a day or even less is enough.

Some fan once a day, others fan 5 times a day and some fan every time the walk by there terrarium. My buddy fans 3 times a day. Once when he gets up, once when he gets home from work and once more before going to bed and it seems to work well for him.

Als antwoord op:

Can there be too much air exchange??? (even if it doesn't bring your humidity too low)

this question gets asked alot. i would have to say no given that humidity and air sterility are maintained. on the other hand, i have read persuasive evidence that co2 buildup during pinning/fruiting can be beneficial as long as it is removed regularly. what would be the point of extra energy expense (physical or electrical) if it is not truly necessary for the fruiting/pinning? it is known as the law of diminishing returns or IOW (in this case) overkill.
