Nostalgia while tripping
    #1333640 - 02/25/03 08:15 AM (13 years, 9 months ago)

While I am tripping, or stoned, and close my eyes, I often see patterns that give me a feeling of intense nostalgia. At these times, I think to myself "I used to dream about these patterns or pictures when I was five years old".
Is it just a feeling, or do you think these patterns are really things we have seen when we were younger?

Or am I the only one who gets intense nostalgia while tripping?

First I'd like to say that mushrooms and Dmt are chemically similar. They both activate the language centers in the brain invoking the "logos". Often under Dmt intoxication people contact entities that aren't really entities but a kind of visible language that are singing things into existance and those things in turn sing more things into existance, known as ("tykes", "elves" (also "self transforming machine elves"), "jewled multi-colored self dribbling basketballs").

There are many reports of people remembering the "elves" from when they were children.

One theory of mine is that this may have to do with the rapid growth of the language centers in young age.

You can read more about this, from Terrance Mckenna's works at www.deoxy.org

Yes, I get that too.

I think when I was younger, I had 'trippy' dreams that I remember having while tripping.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I can only speak for myself, but I see the same visuals while tripping as I saw when I was a child. Definitely.

Boundary dissolution....

All these boundaries built up in your brain over the years seem to be stripped off while under the influence of psychedelics, reminding you of childhood, when those boundaries weren't there.

Thats MY take on it anyway

Yeah, this is a really mysterious thing to me. On ayahuasca I've had long sections where I recall amazing things and assaulted with waves of deja vue as I look around me and understand just how much is going on that I don't notice in everyday existence. Who knows what these things are, though, I don't remember.

I realy like the idea of learning all these amazing things and then being unable to recall them later. I think it's a really fucking rad situation to be in. There's something distinctly human, or super-ape about it.

yeah especially with ayahuasca man!

I felt like I was a pet or something and my "owners" had finally let me out of my "pen" to run around and explore, only to be penned back up at the end

Sleeping in my pen every night now, I wonder if the experience was even real

Nice! My first ayahuasca trip summed up: My brain was out of control smashing apart the barriers of reality and all kinds of little critters who were normally in control of feeding me interpretations of the universe were like "Oh shit!" and while things were crumbling around me I got to see some of the bizarre experiments these little people were conducting behind the scenes.

Hmmm that was in 58 words. A cool thread would be to ask everybody to sum up their most potent mushroom trip in 40 words or less. I think I'll start that.

sometimes when i trip out really hard I can feel my past bloodline, like my ancestry, or how old my genes are or something... i can hear voices of people that came before me in my bloodline, like they are a part of me. well i dont really hear their voices, but the feeling generates words in my head, like my dna is communicating with my conscious mind.
they send loving reassuring messages that make me feel very human

what reminds me the most of my childhood while tripping (besides the visuals and everything beeing so new, and so amazing to discover) is the feeling i have of time... you ever noticed how slowly time passes when you are tripping... how much you experience in just 6 hours? now try to think back to when you were a child... remember how eternally long the time before christmas, even better yet your birthday was? or how may things happened to you in just one(!) single summer? it's just beautiful... shrooms and psychedelics definitely give me nostalgia...

they also recall many many past experiences of my life which i didnt think about in what would seem eternities... or suddenly you remember someone who you havent even thought about in years, and it would sime like he is right there with you (which in fact he is )...

Wow, did you ever read Leary's theories on that?

The Seventh Reality is the reception by the nervous system of RNA signals from DNA molecules within the cell. Genetic messages leading to symbiotic interspecies telepathy. Since reality is energy registered by neural structure, we can "see" only what we are ready instrumentally and conceptually to receive. At the Seventh Circuit DNA-RNA signals are monitored.

Here's the link:

I too have felt all of this, but the other day I was really sick and had a high fever, while I was sleeping I had some dreams that I hadnt remembered that I know I had all the time when I was a little kid, They were pritty crazy, and I consisted mostly of abstract images and emotions that I hadnt remembered from when I was a kid. Whatever was happening in my brain while I had an extreme fever, was kind of like what I had going on as a kid.

WOW I'm so happy that I'm not the only one.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Everything you posted is exactly what I have experienced. Isn't it just one of the greatest feelings you can get?

I think these things are reasons why conservative asshole drug warriors hate drugs like these. They don't understand why anyone would want to make deeper contact with the other parts of themselves because they are so thoroughly disgusted with themselves, and their own existance.

I think if John Ashcroft dosed, he'd go completely fucking mad when he was confronted by the darkness within his own soul.
