Casing Layer

What kinds of problems might someone run into with a casing layer that is thinner than 1/4 of the substrate?

Probably just have mycelium poking through faster in some spots, not really a problem though.

So pinning wouldnt be a problem? How about really high humidity levels?

easier overlay might be an issue.

i knew a farmer who recently used a thin casing layer. after the first flush was harvested, the casing layer was almost 100% covered by a mycellium layer. so the farmer put a thin casing layer on the mycellium and the next flush (for some reason??) was all very large mushrooms in all three casing trays.
