When using a paper substrate for Pink or Golden Oysters, how moist should it be?

I can't say from first hand knowledge, but I would imagine around 60% moisture content is usually correct.

when I use toilet rolls I just completely saturate them, then squeeze out as much water as possible. Seems to be just right:)

I believe I had talked to him in the past about this, he took boiling water, poured it on top of the roll, squeezed it out, removed the cardboard roll, and inoculated with grain inside the hole, and stuck kernels in between some of sheet spaces..

Do not take my word for 100% on this, this is only recollection - I could be wrong. Wait for his response, or if you're very impatient you can give it a try. I'll try and dig up the PM in the meanwhile.

Yeah, that's the way I do it Raadt:)
You could probably even get away with just using cold water, as long as the species is a fast colonising one, toilet paper seems to be highly contam resistant, unless dries out too much.
strange......I never get "reply to your post" notifications any more, which is why I always take so long to reply to posts.....if I remember at all...

Cut the cardboard into small pieces, soak for twenty four hours, then strain until there is no excess. To this ive added a tiny bit of verm to maintain moisture content and some rye flour to speed colonisation.
I added this mix to five 2 litre bags (i got the cardboard pre-shredded thank god!)
Innoculated with myc syringes made from agar wedge.
Initially i found the mycelia to look like cobweb before it thickened out. I found them easier to fruit outdoors than inside too (plain oysters)
