question about my pins?
    #1331872 - 02/24/03 01:18 PM (21 years, 1 month ago)

I birthed my cakes a week ago and finally started getting pins, Kick ass. They are between 1-2 inched long but they are really thin. not at all proportionate to how tall they are, they are not at all short and stubby like most pictures ive seen, the width is thinner than a typical pen, is this normal pin growth? The strain is Golden Teacher, the temp is 73-75, and I give a nice misting three four times a day as well as fanning. I was just wondering if these thin fruits are because of low moisture or some other cause or if this is just typical growth for this strain. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Are you only misting?  Are you using any other method of humidification?  Sometimes cubes are just skinny

if you don't have enough moisture, you will notice small amounts of mycelium groth on the actual pins themselvers, look for a fine white fuzz on them, if this is present, increase misting or whatever you are doing to increase rH levels.

my pins do have a fine white fur almost all over the stems and i am noticing a little bit of it on the caps aswell, i guess this means i have too much humidity so i know i'm misting them enough, other than that the pins look real clean and healthy so i think i'm just being paranoid. The faq said that the fuzz isnt anything to worry about, has anyone had any problems because of too much humidity?
