PROFESSIONAL HELP PLEASE (pics)
    #1331615 - 02/24/03 01:46 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

Yeti would like to know if he should put wet vermiculite on top of these cakes.  The cakes were in their jars for 5 weeks before birthing.  They were birthed 7 days ago, only 4 pins, seemed dry. . . so he dunked them for 12 hours. . . that was 3 days ago.  Still no new pins but 3 out of the 4 pins are growing larger.  Humidity, temp, and light are good.  He would appreciate any help.

Yes those are toothpicks.  Yeti thought those would be easier for handling and less contamination.  Since we?re talking about someone who wipes his ass with tree leaves.

My friends dad said that his sister had success encoraging pinning on previously dunked/cold shocked cakes by lightly scraping with a fork. He said that he said that she said new pins literaly formed in a matter of hours.

It doesn't sound like the Yeti has waited too long since dunking. I would tell him to be patient. If conditions are adequate, he'll see something.

my aquaintance never, ever fruits a cake without double end casing, even if he dunks, cold shocks, injects, whatever. He finds that you dont have to have your humidity so perfectly high if you add a damp casing layer......
