I got all my jars from Canadian Tire. They are 250ml Wide Mouth. I also got a Styrofoam cooler there to use as an incubator. I got my brown rice flour from Pete's Frootique in Halifax. But most people just use brown rice and grind it up. You can get that mostly anywhere. There is a hydroponics and head shop in Halifax called Sweet Leaf where you can but spore syringes there. They are $55 though, and the buddy didn't know what kind they were when i asked. So I ordered some online from Sporepod. The savings was worth the wait.

Next time might I suggest using a Shroomery sponsor such as Ralphsters Canada, or Funguy Mushroom.

I'm still waiting to see a grow paid for entirely with Canadian Tire money.

There's an idea. I think I have around 30 bucks worth.
Could get almost all the supplies needed at Canadian Tire. Haven't seen coir at the ones in my area for a while though.

Don't necessarily need coir. Grain cased with potting soil has grown many many mushrooms. For example.

I purchased some blocks of it last year when Canadian Tire had skids of it.
At 4 or 5 bucks a block I should have bought a skid.

WBS
The walmart here only has WBS with Peanuts and/or mineral oil. I tried using the walmart brand it had both peanuts and mineral oil, but no corn. My GLC and MS would not grow out on it. Nothing.
So I went to Zellers, forgot all about them. Really cheap WBS with cracked corn, no peanuts or mineral oil. So there's one more for the list Zellers
Not sure what else they carry but they do have a large garden center along with lots of variety in tubs, I believe I also saw a PC there.

Great addition tusca, sometimes it's easy to forget about Zellers. They certainly have a good selection of other items as well.

Added the last few suggestions to the list. Thanks everyone! I have been busy with life this week and have not been around all that much but that does not mean my projects are on hold.
Got some money together to buy wood and construction supplies for my flow hood, hope that I finish it up over the next few weeks when I have time. Has been a slow process thus far but I hope my documenting it on here helps someone out in the future.
Hope everyone is doing well!

But it looks like its been discontinued. . .
When I was looking for that I ended up finding a peat moss/coir combination. Comes in a brick, all tan-coloured and fibery and stuff, looks more like coir than peat moss to me.
I haven't tried it as a bulk substrate yet but it works great for plants.
Other stuff I got from Canadian Tire; -Verm -Red Ribbon WBS (works great, no preservatives or anything) -250ml mason jars -1L/quart jars -Manure (not sure if steer or sheep work with mushrooms, haven't gotten far enough to spawn to bulk, but good for plants)
On Friday I'm going to Early's Farm and Garden centre to get some cattle gloves to replace the kitchen ones on my glovebox since thye keep breaking the silicone seal around them. I'll post if I find any other stuff conducive to growing mushroom.

That last time I was in my local store they had replaced the garden aisle with Christmas ornaments and other holiday crap. I was able to track down two bales of coir at the far end of the store, all the remaining gardening stuff was put into a couple shopping carts off to the side.
I picked up the last two bales of coir and last two bags of verm they had in stock. Here's to hoping it's enough to last me until spring!

I been looking for food-grade agar (not counting the desert-agar with the sugar added), and all I found is some small tiny bags of agar flakes for $8.99 at Goodness Me health food stores!!!! WTF?!?!?!
Seriously, anyone can point me to some Asian store that sells just agar without the sugar in some city in the golden horseshoe West of Toronto that doesn't cost $8.99 for a tiny bag?

Agar flakes were I am cost about $9-10 for a 28G package, highway robbery in my opinion. The best deal I have been able to find so far is below: http://well.ca/products/now-foods-agar-powder_19713.html
2 OZ bottles, $9.65 and its already powdered. Not to mention free shipping. Prolly not what you are looking for but thought I would mention it.

The store that has that can get the kind you want if you ask. Take in a picture with you, there's lots on this board.
